About me: Going Coastal is a grassroots nonprofit organization formed to connect people and coastal resources by raising awareness of the immense value of the coastal environment by publishing books, creating media, and outreach programs.
In order to address these needs, the founders began researching New York City’s coastline, its history, and current public accesses in order to develop a book that would serve as an accessible public resource - "Going Coastal New York City"
What distinguishes Going Coastal, Inc. is its integrated platform and outreach programs designed to inform, educate and communicate knowledge of the natural, recreational, cultural, historical, and inspirational characteristics of New York City’s coastal resources.
Going Coastal’s mission is to increase understanding, promote appreciation, and foster stewardship of the urban coastal environment.
Who I'd like to meet: Going Coastal is a dedicated to making new friends for coastal conservation. We are at the service of all with similar aims. We are interested in hearing from anyone with an interest in maritime history and the aquatic environment.
I'd like to meet all who enjoy water-based recreation in urban environments - surfing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, walking on the beach, sunbathing, hiking, scuba diving, marina operators, and others who actively participate in waterfront activtities.
Anyone who seeks out and is knowledgeable about unique places on the water.
People who like to explore the city, visit botanical gardens and researchers.
Stewards of the coast who are working to preserve and protect coastal eco-system.
I'm sorry if this is a dupe post -- my computer is flippin' out and I wanted to make sure I connected with you since, it's nearly st paddy's day and you might like some suggestions on things you should do! At my website I've got a giant list of cool places to go for a pint or a song or bit of fun. and if you know of a place that I forgot to put on the list, please send me a comment. If history (Christmas, New Year's etc) is any indication, I'll have over one thousand people go to my website looking for st paddy's day fun.
And if you're off the sauce, or too young, or gave it up for lent, I haven't forgot you, I have an Irish Film Festival at Squidoo. You can vote for your favorites.
