Hello I am the Ku Bar & i am a bar / nightclub / live music venue / house of debauchery sat on Prince Regent Street, Stockton on Tees in the sunny North East of England.
Since i was born I have taken a liking to having the best up & coming live bands grace my stage, highlights of the past have included Arctic Monkeys, The Enemy, Reverend and The Makers, Pigeon Detectives, The View, Friendly Fires, Glasvegas, Nine Black Alps, those devil beasts Black Wire & our friends from Hull, The Paddingtons... there's been hundreds more that i cant remember right now probably due to the number of drinks that have been spilled on me over the years, i been a bit tipsy on more than one occasion! Other famous faces have popped in from time to time like movie stars Paddy Considine & Sam Riley & super model Agyness Deyn i wasnt to drunk that night to remember though ;-)
I am happiest when my two rooms are full of friendly people dancing to the best music in Stockton. Im very open minded, I like allsorts - Indie, Pop, Disco, Ska, Funk, House, Punk, Hip Hop, Soul, Rock & Roll, basically if its good i want to hear it! & when i have this music inside me the crowd i attract is a good one, like a happy family!
I keep my door charges down & my drinks prices too because i like to look after my family. Sometimes when i invite live acts to come & play from far away it might cost more to get in. Its not much more, theres always a bit of discount with advance tickets & my tasty drink offers always stay the same, mmmmmmm!! Its important to me to look after my best firends when we have a big night on so i do my best!
I like to open my doors bright & early at 9pm & I like to stay open until 3am in the morning, im a bit of a night owl, so im alright if youre just nipping in for a quick drink or going the full whack!
On a FRIDAY live action indie event SHINE*LIKE*STARS visits me & its a right carry on! Some people call it the 100 club of the north east & some call it the biggest little indie night in the world, it gets quite hectic. Along with the great bands i have DJ's doing their thing in the GREEN room playing the best new music. I also have a RED room where i have my foundations rocked every week with a right mix of sounds & cheese free pop by the Sneaky Disco lads Ben & Gidge.
SATURDAYS i let the KITCHEN SINK lads in. I've only known this lot for a few months but the place wouldnt be the same without them now. I've never heard such a mix of music! In my RED room they cover the very best in EVERYTHING! From funk to hip hop to pop to house to 80's to soul to disco to indie to rnb to rock & back again, all that dancing is wearing my floors out! In the GREEN room i've heard some of the best tribute acts the world has to offer, it's like the Kings of Leon, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis & The Stereophonics were actually here! Its no wonder i've been full to bursting & this is now known as the best night in our little town.

On the days i usually shut my doors or try to take a little rest from booking live acts lots of people HIRE ME. Along with my rooms i let you use all my shiny equipment & friendly staff. A new night of heavy live sounds and DJs to match in a new venue as dark and loud as necsary.
Next NHS features the mighty FRAFF and it's on SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER.
Following the storming first night of New Heavy Sounds in September (with the marvellous BO-NINGEN headlining), we're super excited about the next NHS night, with zombie-baiting wonders CHICKENHAWK supported by the brilliant heavy garage of BAD FOR LAZARUS, the tight'n'heavy FRAFF and Cardiff's great STRANGE NEWS FROM ANOTHER STAR.
