hyper-Romantic weird beat; minimal and on fire like a fond yet disturbing memory of giggling existentialist finger puppets, or else slower, heavier like animal tranquilizers wandering in a haunted wood
on april 13, 2008, at the request of the philadelphia film festival, golden ball performed live david's original soundtrack to the 1920 silent film, dr jekyll and mr hyde, starring john barrymore
"By the time you get through the six-minute opening song of Golden Ball's debut The Luxury of Pause, you've already heard more range than most bands display in a career. Coming off like early Elf Power commandeered by Brians Eno and Wilson, the ambitious Philly troupe spins swirling technicolor fantasias ideal for late-night bong-fueled headphone listening. Foaming guitar distortion mingles with persistent keys, offhanded harmonies, sleepy tambourine, interplanetary samples and effects, inventive percussion and oh-so-airy vocals. You'll hear something new every time, and every time the whole quirky grab-bag will hold together better until, against all odds, it actually starts making sense." (Doug Wallen, Philadelphia Weekly)
"Oh hell, it was bound to happen sooner or later. If you keep writing about CDs long enough, you eventually come across one or two that you simply can't write a normal review of. Such is the case for me with this mind-boggling sophomore platter by Philadelphia's Golden Ball. This thing is dizzyingly original, organically freakadelic, and woven with the finest aesthetic fibers. [...] It's certainly one of the most refreshing, imaginative, formula-defying platters I've heard in years, worth every minute spent deciphering its fantasmagorical sonic mosaic. A" (Kevin Renick, PLAYBACK:stl)
Oscar Wilde once stated that “I always like to know everything about my new friends, and nothing about my old ones”. Of course there is a waspish humour within such a remark but it also focuses upon one of life’s great delights: New stuff. New stuff. Whether it’s a relationship or a pair of socks or a delicious, shimmering piece of Youreyeslie gorgeousness you can’t quite beat the chemical high that stems from beholding something new, surprising and unknown. The website has been updated with nothing but newness. So head to youreyeslie.com and take a wander through our cyber-Parthenon, exulting in the awe inspiring, humanity-affirming creations of the Youreyeslie design team. And then, once you’ve satiated your eyes make a couple of courageous clicks and take a little piece of the museum home with you.

TWILIGHT FOLK PRESENTS…. SHARRON KRAUS With support from Peter Delaney and C Joynes Live at Orange Street Music Club, Canterbury Weds October the 21st 8.00pm £5 in advance/£6 on door
“Sharron Kraus is a dark-folk gem. Listening to her high, clear voice cut through melodies woven from acoustic guitar, banjo and hurdy-gurdy, you may struggle to remember which late-'60s traditionalists beat her to the material. Here's one folklore expert whose originals feel both authentic and alive….Exquisite second album by this wonderful singer. She conjures up visions of Karen Dalton, Shirley Collins, Judy Dyble and even early Joni. Live she was fantastic too. ..this moves from traditional folk (in a Shirley Collins, Anne Briggs style) to her own songs and enchants all the way. An immaculate album from a major new singer.”
Peter Delaney lives in Limerick, Ireland. He comes from a folk music background and plays his own unique style, drawing on early Hawaiian folk songs and Alan Lomax field recordings as well as more contemporary musicians such as Joanna Newsom and Josephine Foster. Peter released his debut EP/Mini Album "Duck Egg Blue" in April 2007 to much acclaim.
Peter has played throughout the UK, Ireland and Norway and has shared the bill with A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Alasdair Roberts, Jozef van Wissem, Juana Molina and The Swell Season. www.myspace.com/peterdelaney
