To the new San Francisco National Poetry Slam team SF Grand Slam Champion Matt Bless has Blazed his way to glory with grace and fury this year in an amazing 1st place win at the San Francisco Finals. We are Please to have an awesome team of new blood this year DRE, LEIGH ANN,MATT BLESSE, MARK STATES, and STEPHEN MEADS! Due to the unfortunate conditions of Big Sur we will be hold the SAN FRANCISCO BATTLE OF THE BAY JULY13TH 5P-10P AND ALL NPS TEAMS ARE INVITED:) This will be an intense best of the west knock down drag out through down between TEAMS SAN FRANCISCO, BERKELEY, OAKLAND,SAN JOSE(youth team),SACRAMENTO, MONTEREY, AND (HOLLYWOOD)!!! This is guaranteed to be a show you won't wanna miss! As Always there will be FREE FOOD- CREOLE COOKING for the Soul. DJ MONKEE PANTZ Spinnin the Old School Joints on the 1's & 2's. WHAT: The City Slam & Experimental Mic. The City Slam is a spoken word variety show built around a competition. The 5 audience judges score slam performance poets and at the end of the night they choose a poet who wins $100 cash. Ultimately, 4 poets will be selected to represent San Francisco at the National Poetry Slam in August 2008. The Experimental Mic is a forum for lyrical creativity layering poetry, music, dance, and all artistic avenues of expression

The City Slam & Experimental Mic
continues EVERY SECOND SUNDAY @ MAMA CALIZO'S VOICE FACTORY THEATER

WHY: To create a forum for creative expression that
embodies the power of the poetry slam community and
welcomes the authentic brilliance of experimentation.
We will blend layers of music, dance, spoken word and
all artistic avenues of creative expression together
to create a rose bud of delight.
HOW: The format of the show will be a mixture of
Experimental Artists and Slam Poets alternating on
stage. Slam Poets have a 3-minute time limit, Experimental
Mic performers get 4 minutes.$70 to the 1st place slam poet $20 second place and $10 third place.
This Price does not apply to finals or benifit shows...
