----------------------------------------------------------- Volume Every 4th Sunday Volume takes place once a month on Fourth Sundays from 7p-9p. The sign up time is 6:30p and the time limit on open mic performances is 4min. , with a cover of $5 at the door. This is a variety open mic. with monthly Features and Highlights of the best of the Bay Area’s performance artists, touring performance poets from around the world, live music, and theater. Volume is a blend of music, dance, spoken word and all artistic avenues of creative expression. The purpose of this event is to create a spectacular cultural crossover of genres of poetry and performances with an explosive emphasis on creating safe space for the voices of queer women and the larger LGBTQI community. If You Want to Perform: please show up at 6:30p to sign up and keep in mind there is a 4min. time limit on all open mic performances so that as many voices as possible are able to grace the stage in the allotted time frame. The City Slam is a spoken word variety show built around a competition. The 5 audience judges score slam performance poets and at the end of the night they choose a poet who wins $100 cash. Ultimately, 4 poets will be selected to represent San Francisco at the National Poetry Slam in August 2008.
