Founded in 1975 by Terry Grant, Goldenrod Music is an independent music distributor. Though initially part of a group of 60 independent women's music distribution companies, today it is the only company that exists with women's music as it's primary focus.
Goldenrod Music currently has a roster of over 500 women artists. At Goldenrod Music you'll find some of today's best up and coming women's music artists, such as Le Tigre, Tegan and Sara, Lesbians On Ecstasy, Ani Difranco, Bitch, Girlyman, Chris Pureka, Ember Swift, Melissa Ferrick,, along with the established. The first artist Goldenrod carried was Meg Christian. Soon after, Goldenrod expanded to carry other classic women's artists such as Cris Williamson, Holly Near, Margie Adam, and more. In keeping true to our mission to support non-dominant cultures, the Goldenrod Music catalog has expanded to include Celtic, Native American, Celtic, New Age, and Gay Dance music.
