It has already received some great reviews which can be viewed by clicking the REVIEWS link of our website (www.gollumband.com) or the 'New Reviews' blog on our myspace! Check out what the critics say so far! More will be added as they come in! Thanks to everyone that came out to our CD release show last Saturday and special thanks to Ron and Rotten Records for making the trip as well! Earlier that day, we filmed some footage for a new music video for the song, 'Blacksmith'! Expect it to be released in a month or so. We just received notice that Gollum will also be in REVOLVER, METAL HAMMER, DECIBEL and OUTBURN in issues next month! Also just got word that Liquid Metal satellite radio is playing our tunes! Gollum's 'The Core' will be released by Rotten Records April 14, 2009! The new album is dedicated in loving memory of our brother, Hunter Holland featuring his best work! With major distribution through RED/Sony, it will be available at a record store near you! We greatly miss Hunter but realize we must soldier on as he would want us to. This has brought us to the task of searching for a new drummer. Almost from the beginning of this process we had someone in mind. Gifted drummer Seth Long, who played with Frank in a side project a few years back, was recruited into the fold playing his first show with the band on New Year's Eve. Seth has been a long time fan already familiar with the music, as well as one of the very few capable drummers in town that Hunter really gave props to. It is very fitting to now have him on board!
9.11.08 Gollum has been devastated beyond comprehension. We are sorrowful and dread to announce the passing of our brother/founding member Hunter Holland. We are in complete shock and dismay as are all of you. Hunter passed Wednesday morning, 9-10-08. Initial speculation to cause of death indicates a form of heart failure.
During our time of mourning, we ask friends to not look at the darkness of his death but to the light of his life. Over the last couple years, Hunter has overcome much adversity to become the best anyone has ever known him to be. With the overcoming of personal demons, finding love and the signing of our band, many of his lifelong goals have been achieved. In fact, Hunter has stated several times that if he were to go tomorrow, he would go happy and fulfilled. He indeed left this world with those feelings in his heart. The knowledge and richness of his being will forever be with us and has inspired everyone in this band.
In our moment of sorrow and despair...let it tear us apart then we will turn it to art.
Gollum still has full intention next year of releasing our long awaited Rotten Records debut, featuring Hunter's best work in which he was most proud! The album titled 'The Core' will be solely dedicated to our brother. Through the recordings and beautiful music we have created through the years, he shall forever live and never be forgotten. We say farewell and rest in peace my friend. We love you!
