GOL formed in Edinburgh in September 2008. Their fresh and funky fusion of traditional Persian arrangements, electronica, jazz and world music have spread waves of excitement from Scotland to the Middle East and USA, leading to numerous slots on BBC TV and a busy summer of festival performances in the UK. They released their EP "Roots" in November 2009 and are going back into the studio in March to start recording their new Album. BBC TV just broadcast a half hour documentary about GOL as part of their Close Up on music series. Recent gigs include: Celtic Connections, Hidden Door Festival ( showcasing best new music in Scotland) Big Tent Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, Knockengorrock Festival, Middle East Festival, Roxy Art House. GOL were recently commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council and The Edinburgh Mela to create an hour of new music and film for the Mela Festival, called " Mixed Up" ( 5 star review in the Scotsman Newspaper). GOL recently headlined The Bongo Club. This summer they are playing the Meadows Festival in June and the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival in Edinburgh.
