With a one-off live performance in a Washington DC nightclub in 1999 that left one veteran writer "gobsmacked," Goneboy has since been in the studio around-the-clock over the last several years recording, re-recording and refining what are rumoured to be hundreds of orchestral pop sketches. Enlisting the services of virtuoso programmers and some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Goneboy's debut release, The Fourth of July, remains locked in the vaults with only "Smartypants" and the arresting powerpop of "Mary Gee" having surfaced to date.
As of late-2005, rumblings persisted that a label deal was at last forthcoming, but as the year ended, nothing appeared imminent.
