Greetings from GB Online
General Interests
About me: I have interests in Mesoamerican Art & Archaeology, Latin American Fiction, 19th & 20th Century American Writers, Underground Comix, Classical Music (from Adams to Zappa and everything between), Rock & Blues guitar, and related collectibles & ephemera.
I am also interested in collecting and researching Pre-Columbian ceramics; Paintings, Drawings & Watercolors (from 17th Century to Contemporary); Woodcuts, Lithographs, Signed Prints & other multiples; Beat Generation, Fluxus and other 20th century art & culture phenomena.
I maintain a popular web site on Ancient Mesoamerican Writing and Archaeology. I recently joined the board of the New World Archaeology Foundation, and I'm their publicity director.
I have many musical influences, but specifically, Mozart, Hendrix, and everybody else, including Pete Townsend, Neil Young, Elvis Costello, and Captain Beefheart / Don Van Vliet. (Distant cousins, there's a limited supply...)
Current Interests
I am currently researching and collecting the work of Raphael Soyer, Reginald Marsh, Edward Hopper, and related artists, including Ashcan School & other Regionalists. I have a particular fascination with old masters Caravaggio and Albrecht Durer, among others.
I am also interested in the art and music of Captain Beefheart / Don Van Vliet. If you have any related items, write me. (...and we're down to the dozens, and this is why...)
About This Music
I recorded the music you're hearing during the Summer Solstice of 1985. Those of you who know me know that I quit drinking in 1985; these recordings are of particular interest because you'll find me in various states of inebriation.
At the time of the recording, I had not yet discovered the music of Captain Beefheart / Don Van Vliet. (...Big Eyed Beans from Venus, oh my oh my...)
