Goodbye Matt is a six piece pop-punk band from Northern California. Since its formation in the Fall of 2005, Goodbye Matt has brought its high-energy and distinct sound to fans in venues throughout the state.
While the phrase “pop-punk” serves as a reasonable representation of the band’s style, Goodbye Matt also benefits from the contributions of ska and rock genres. The group draws inspiration from bands such as Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish, The Matches, Say Anything, and Five Iron Frenzy.
“If Weezer and Reel Big Fish had an irreverent, pun-chucking National Merit Scholar of a lovechild, it might be goodbye matt. Either that or goodbye matt would beat it up and steal its lunch money…” (The Dspot, 12/1/2005).
In the Spring of 2006, Goodbye Matt released its debut album, a 4 track EP entitled “Enjoy the Ride,” and will be heading back into the studio in the Spring of 2009.
