Brian Froud Bio: I was born 1947 in Winchester, England, and work as a fantasy illustrator. I work and live in Devon, England with my wife, Wendy Froud, who is also a fantasy artist, whom I met on the set of The Dark Crystal, and as a result we created our wonderful son,
Toby, who plays in the film The Labyrith, and now works on various projects of his own. My work has been used as the inspiration for creatures in films such as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth (both in conjunction with Jim Henson's Creature Shop). I collaborated with Terry Jones, who was a screenwriter on Labyrinth, on The Goblins of the Labyrinth (1986, re-issued in abridged form as The Goblin Companion: A Field Guide to Goblins in 1996), and subsequently on a number of non-Labyrinth-related books about fairies and goblins, the latest being Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book, Goblins and Good Fairies/Bad Fairies. One of my most famous art books is simply titled Faeries, in collaboration with Alan Lee. I have also dabbled in other mediums and have recently created a deck of tarot cards entitled "The Faerie's Oracle". I have also designed the album artwork for the medieval rock band Qntal's 2006 release Qntal V: Silver Swan. The enhanced 2CD version of the album also featured a second CD featuring a short gallery of my fairy and goblin work.
Wendy Midener Froud Bio: The daughter of American artists Walter and Peggy Midener, I worked as a puppet-maker and sculptor for the Jim Henson studios in London and New York. I created such beloved film characters as Yoda for the newer Star Wars movies, and the Gelflings for Dark Crystal, as well as puppets for the Muppets television program, and some creatures in the Labyrinth. My dolls and sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. My art is featured in three books co-created with Terri Windling: A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale, The Winter Child, and The Faeries of Spring Cottage.I am also a writer, and my poetry has been published in Sirens, an anthology of mytho-erotic fantasy.
