...... .. .. .. .......... .. .. .......... .. .. .......... .. .. .......... .. .. .. .......... .. .. “The five of us are all big fans of bands like Tom Petty, The Eagles, John Mellencamp, Credence, etc.” says Good Man Down lead singer Dennis Hill. “One day we were all talking about how you just don’t hear any new bands making that kind of music anywhere. To us, American music was missing something.” It was this collective sentiment that, in the summer of 2006, led five friends into a rehearsal studio in Fullerton California with their guitars, drums, and an overflowing enthusiasm to make their own brand of music together. .. In September of 2006, after only a handful of casual jam sessions, the group began recording their first batch of original material in guitar player Kyle Homme’s studio. The music reflected their various influences. From rock and country to the 70s & 80s radio hits that had been part of their youth. With roots that stretch from California to Kentucky to North Carolina to Virginia, the members of Good Man Down share a diverse musical background. “From the very first time we all got together there was an energy there.”adds guitarist Steve Garvy. Good Man Down was born. .. The band walked out of those initial recording sessions with four songs that galvanized the feeling that their path was set. Live shows were the next natural step in Good Man Down’s progression. Their first official performance was an opening slot for .38 Special. Many more shows have followed. The band now performs regularly in the southern California area, as well as, up and down the west coast. In addition to headlining for their own ever-growing fan base, they have also shared the stage with many national acts including: Pat Green, Social Distortion, Josh Gracin, Jamey Johnson, Lee Rocker, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Supersuckers, Ramblin Jack Elliott and many more. .. In the summer of 2008, Good Man Down released their first full-length, self-titled CD. The buzz and critical acclaim from this CD is already opening ears, eyes, and doors for the band. Most recently, they were asked to write and record the title track for a movie detailing the Professional Bull Riding circuit’s rise to prominence. The documentary and the song are both titled, “This Is Not A Rodeo.” The film will premiere at high profile film festivals around the country. Good Man Down is slated to support this project with performances at both film festivals and PBR riding events. .. Good Man Down .. Kevin Baldes- bass, backing vocals..
