Ask anyone about San Diego, CA and they will either tell you about Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World or about the city’s proximity to the Mexican border. Very soon, however, people will add a third bullet to the list: Alternative-rock group Goodnight Caulfield.
The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Adam Cuadra and lead guitarist Joey Meza, best friends since high school, in late 2006. They enlisted the aid of drummer Matt Clemens who wowed them with an ear-shattering drum solo, and newest member Nikolai.
The band name is a reference to Holden Caulfield of the best-selling novel The Catcher in the Rye. The band is bidding adieu to Caulfield’s style of rebellious pessimism and negativity in order to welcome something more positive.
The group released their self-titled debut EP in early 2008. It was a showcase Alternative/Emo Rock similar to Anberlin, Armor for Sleep and Paramore, which is no surprise as the members cite them as strong influences. Like their contemporaries, their music is highly energetic and upbeat with positive, forward-thinking lyrics to match.
“I believe our music paints a real picture of life situations,” says Cuadra. “Our message is be yourself. Life has its up’s and down’s so focus on what you are passionate about and go for it.”
Goodnight Caulfield is currently putting the finishing touches on its debut full-length album, The Masquerade which is set to be released January 3rd, 2009.

And your drumming is fanamanal (dude i cant spell) lol dont judge me haha.. lol Nik, your van driving skills are legit lol! and adam, well my friend you are a funny person. too bad about the banana! and yes, we will TP someone's house and we should do something before you all leave for tour!
You boys have done it again! Amazing show, always fun, and makes me laugh. Cant wait to go to the show on the 1st! Will miss you guys when you go on tour! I'd love to go and support you guys but i cant :-(....lame....but you guys are amazing and keep it real
just wanted to let you know that you guys played an awesome show today. you're harmonies were amazing and even though there were some difficulties you boys pulled them off very well. and honestly your music is one of the biggest turn ons ever haha. not tryin to b a perv but yah. anyways just thought id give props where they were deserved. i hope all goes well on tour :)
u guys were awesome last night, too bad bout the bass for the first few songs nik, i wish i could play guitar half as well as you joey (Jack Black) haha :), that was some sick drumming Matt i was blown away, adam dude you are freaking talented as hel... uh heck lol, great singing and guitar... cant wait to see u all at your next show, U guys are amazing live, and a really chill bunch of guys hope to see you around SD! um for the record, You guys all kicked ass yesterday!! haha i love how my friend thought joey was totally Jack Black!! And Nik, that sucks that your bass and the system we bugging out in the beginning lol. Adam, long sleves for a show, will get pretty warm lol. and Matt...well you are right next to Travis Barker on my top drummers, which means you are #1 lol....
Hopefully i will have some money for the 25th cuz im broke now lol! Good Job again!!
