It was bound to happen eventually. When you examine the previous and current exports from Newcastle and The Valley; an assortment of metal and emo mixed with acoustic/folk rock and of course Silverchair; it was only a matter of time before a band came through to pay homage to the past and also pave the slate clean for the future.

They evolved to suit their surroundings, and are becoming a perfect representation of the climate they are consumed in. Built by external factors and driven by a fascination for life, they have adapted accordingly and are becoming a true force in Indie pop. Ladies and gentleman I give you:

Exploding onto the Newcastle music scene in late 2007, Goodnight Kids quickly became one of the hottest new bands in town and ensconced themselves as the new darlings of the local Indie scene.

There’s something about Goodnight Kids that makes it hard to look away. It’s everything, from their brash good looks and energetic live shows, to their infectious and diverse catalogue of songs. They’re youthful yet mature, romantic yet heartbroken, energetic yet restrained. They refuse to be boxed into a genre or stigma; they simply exist and do so with great vigour.

Their stylish mix of dancey chic/synth pop with an exotic, indie edge has helped generate a great deal of interest in the boys and with further exposure great things will surely happen for this garishly enigmatic and pop-sensible four-piece.
