Gord Phillips is a singer/songwriter based in Victoria, B.C.. His style has been compared with likes of John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. Life happens and Gord writes. He is quoted saying” music is my religion”, and that shows in the emotion from the live performance. To the depth he attains lyricly.
Gords style is a combination of rock, folk, blues and roots.
With the release of his solo cd coming soon. Gord is busy recording at Shadowroc Music and Mike Demers Productions. Living on the West coast of Vancouver Island is a touch of magic for this songwriter.

Gord began life in a small south-western Ontario town of Sarnia. Music is a spiritual journey for Gord. As far back as he can remember music has been part of everyday life. In times of joy and pain, writing is a constant. With the wide variety of musical interests, Gord’s style of music is best described as folk rock. His writing takes on a two persona’s. From deep lyrics with rootsy rythyms for the story to be told, to up beat blues rock with what he calls” philosophical blues”. Inspired by Neil Young as a song writer.This gives versatility to his performance that makes him an individual in this evolving, transforming business.
After years of playing shows and writing many songs, this release is a heartfelt portrait of Gord’s life, and what happens when we see life and listen. His songwrting grows as he does. This is a quote from his song Playground “Find your self the perfect girl. When she’s done with you. Find a real girl. A woman I should say. Who loves you in a way.” A song written as a kind of affirmation reminding us to open our eyes, it’s lyrics like these that show the true essence of his passion for the art of the song.
