My main interests are outdoor sports like Climbing Mountains, playing traditional Scottsih music, occasional sailing and ski-ing, history from all countries but especially Scotland and The American Civil War. Bird watching is fun and I have become a bit of a twitcher. Golf has to be on this list, the most strange of games, the ball doen't even move, you just hit it and it never goes where you want it to go. Thanks to all my pals who keep my bad language down.

Mainly traditional Scottish, but also have a love of Classical music and most rock and roll music from the sixties onwards, especially the Beatles. Basically everything except RAP. My favourite Scottish musicians are Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain who can literally bring a tear to my eye with their wonderful tunes. Many people say our band brings a tear to the eye as well, in a different kind of way. I could listen to the Three Tenors anytime and especially Pavarotti, so sad he is not with us anymore. | | Movies |

My favourite films would include: Doctor Zchivago, The Sound of Music, Gladiator, Its a Wonderful Life, Lord of the Rings and all the Harry Potter movies. This list could go on but I still love Doris Day in Calamity Jane. | | Television |

I read every day and my favourite books would include. The White Spider and Seven years in Tibet. The Lord of the Rings. I also enjoy Patrick O'Briens Jack Aubrey series. Again The Harry Potter novels were great, I never thought I would read that kind of stuff, but its fantastic. | | Heroes |

About me:

Born and bred in Scotland. Now in my early sixties I take people on guided tours of Scotland see www.greatscot-tours.com I also play in a Scottish Ceilidh Band called the Midgies see www.themidgies.co.uk I am married to Heather and we have two grown up childern Siobhan and Ruairidh. They are both married and Siobhan has given us two grandaughters, Seona and Mairi.
I have always been into politics and have supported Scottish independence all my life. I love to travel and go regularly to different places either with Heather or the band.
I love the gaelic language. I have tried to learn it for many years and wish that I could speak it fluently.

Who I'd like to meet:
Unfortunately most people I would like to meet are in the past and are well gone. I would have loved to have met, William Wallace the great hero of Scotland, Robert Burns our national poet. From more recent times Heinrich Harrer who wrote "The White Spider and Seven Years in Tibet" also Anderl Heckmair who lead the first successful ascent of the North Face of the Eiger.
