Native Jamaican and eternal wild child Gordon Neil is the latest phenom to descend upon music. A product of island culture, and a life also spent growing up in the Bronx, NY and Decatur, GA, his music is a mashup of seemingly opposing influences. His disregard for convention and categorization make themselves apparent in every creative work to come forth. A student of music since the womb, Gordon's influences cover everything from Harry Belafonte, Fela Kuti, Queen, Nina Simone, Parliament, and a Tribe Called Quest, to Jimi Hendrix, Donnie Hathaway, Stone Temple Pilots, Eric B. and Rakim, Duran Duran, and Carly Simon.
"I believe that music, like any other art form, should imitate life. And in my life, my feelings, moods, experiences, and lessons all change from one moment to the next. It's often chaotic, but that's just the nature of the human heart and soul," says Gordon, who currently calls Atlanta, GA home.
This singer/songwriter marks his debut with the EP release of "Confessions Of An Immigrant... .5" on indie label Masacote Records, which will be soon followed by the full release version, "Confessions Of An Immigrant."
