Sounds Like
Many listeners have associated Gordon with the "outsider music" genre (e.g. Daniel Johnston, Wesley Willis). His music shares certain qualities with these artists but has a style all its own. My favourite analogy was from our friend Elisabeth who compared it to "a cross between Syd Barrett and Frank Sinatra."
Gordon Thomas is a 92-year-old singer from New York City who has been recording and independently releasing music since the early 1960s. He was recently the subject of a documentary, Everything’s Coming My Way. Gordon’s unique music has won him a small but devoted following around the world.
PLEASE NOTE: This page is operated on Gordon’s behalf by the makers of Everything’s Coming My Way. Gordon does not own a computer or use the internet. However, we will pass on all important messages or serious inquiries to him.
As some of you might already know, yesterday was Gordon's 92nd Birthday!!
Tonight a few of his friends (including myself) are having a small party for him and we will be telling him all about the buzz going around the internet about him. I'm sure he will be excited to hear all about it and see all the pictures and ads I have printed out and scrapbooked for him.
I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon, a couple years back, he was greetign people inside the door of a fabric shop in NYC. I was a nanny at the time, and while my employer shopped we chatted. You gave me your CD and some copies of stories about you in the local papers. You have a lot of character, and it was a pleasure speaking with you. Keep up your wonderful music!!!
