Hi and welcome to the Myspace site of Sharp Street Studio in Hull. Opened in September 2005, within a month the room was fully booked up every night of the week.
My name is Mark, and I spend most of my time there, or so it seems. I have been in many rehearsal rooms in Hull, some great, some bad, some really bad. When I decided to open up a rehearsal room, there were some things I knew must be done to make this room stand out from others in the town. With that in mind when building the room, I wanted Sharp Street Studio to offer more than just a room to make a noise in. Only the bands themselves who rehearse can be the judges of that.
For a start its on the ground floor, no stairs or lifts!! Thats one benefit of our studio over some others.
Arrive in our CCTV covered car park, and walk into a relaxing chill out room, where you will be offered a tea or coffee as soon as you walk through the door. Plates and utensils for any food you want to bring in. A fridge for any drinks. Relax and get yourself ready for rehearsing. Band equipment entrance through large double doors. Thats another benefit, no squeezing your gear through narrow doors.
Through into the rehearsal room itself. Large enough to fit a 10 piece band in, and we have. Acoustically treated to a fantastic standard, this room can take as much noise as you can throw at it. 4 loud floor monitors can be moved to wherever you need them to be to suit your particular bands needs. DI lines for keyboards etc.
We also offer storage or bands who use the room, @ only £5.00 per week.
Rehearsals start from as little as £5.00 per hour between 10am & 6pm Monday to Friday. Evenings (7-11) and weekends (10-2, 2.30-6.30 & 7-11)@ £25.00 per session.
The room sounds that good I decided to just had to record bands in it, so to one side of the rehearsal room is the recording room. Recently upgraded with better mics and Cubase studio 4, we are really happy with the results we have listened to so far.
At the moment, for every recording hour you buy @ £35.00, we give you one hour free. Minimum is 4 hours.
4hrs - £70.00
8hrs - £105.00
12hrs - £140.00
You can choose how you would like to record, either live, or layered. The price is the same regardless.
There are plans underway to expand. It will wither be to three or five rooms. We are still adding and subtracting figures at the moment. So, soon we will be able to accomodate more bands.

You took over when everying went down at the White Rooms. I think it was the last two gigs we did there and the sound was always top when you were behind the desk.
You'll be glad to hear we're now playing to much bigger and more responsive crowds.
