About me:
Let there be night! We're not only losing the stars, we're stomping on the nocturnal environment, decreasing our personal safety, and wasting massive amounts of energy with unnecessary lights at night. Better outdoor lighting will benefit natural habitats, human health, and global resources. Sometimes it only takes a flick of a switch. See www.nightwise.org for ideas and easy things to do.
Our community is embracing dark skies during the 2009 International Year of Astronomy. We want to answer the question, "How much of the night sky have we already lost?" Visit www.LetThereBeNight.com to see how the kids will lead the community experiment and dialogue. They lead, because it's their future.
When Galileo looked at four moons going around Jupiter, he could clearly see Earth was no longer the center of everything. The old model no longer worked. Today, we, too, need to change our way of thinking, for the old model of lighting up everything at night no longer works. Let's propose a better way together. Gosh, dim it.
