Interests

  • General

I sing, play guitar, and dabble with keyboards. One of my main interests is music - specifically alt rock, classic rock, glam rock and old school new wave. My other main interest is comedy writing - check out my blogs. I'm also a computer nerd so I'm glued to my laptop and constantly learning. I missed the whole car thing growing up so I have no clue when it comes to automotive mechanics, but I can do anything with a computer. I love television because it's the only thing that allows me to turn off my brain in the evening and dive into the fictional world of all my favorite characters. I love to read but I'm slow (have to hear all the words in my head) so it takes a real effort to complete a book - I read articles on the web and from magazines every day and get my news from the Daily Show. I'm also in an improv troupe - details to come as the group progresses.
  • Music

My first album - Elton John Greatest Hits. My first concert - Kiss December 1976. My first guitar - Univox Hi Flyer. Bands I'm into in no particular order - Producers, Outfield, Goo Goo Dolls, Rush, India.Arie, Athenaeum, Love Spit Love, Psych Furs, Tom Cochrane, Aimee Mann, Bruce Cockburn, Corinne Bailey Ray, Regina Spektor, Tom Petty, Eve 6, Plunge, Ravyns, Bootcamp, Five for Fighting, Our Lady Peace, Jimmy Eat World, Live, Fountains of Wayne, Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick, Neil Diamond, Semisonic, Peter Frampton, Blue Oyster Cult, Triumph, Geoffrey Osbourne, Earth Wind & Fire, American Hi-Fi, Pearl Harbor & the Explosions, White Lion, Europe, Boyz II Men, Motion City Soundtrack, Bowling for Soup, Nelson, Reel Big Fish, Sara Evans, Switchfoot, Talk Talk, The Who, Vertical Horizon, John Hiatt, Enuff Z'Nuff, Eric Johnson, Company of Wolves, The Alarm, Love Spit Love, Kenny Chesney, Rob Byer, Hoobastank, Dire Straits, The Killers...
  • Movies

Anything sci-fi. Anything really funny. Anything written well. All-time faves (this week): 12 Angry Men, Fasttimes At Ridgemont High, Grand Canyon, any trilogy.
  • Television

The Daily Show, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Lost, American Idol, 24, Survivor, Battlestar Galactica, Colbert Report, The Office, SNL, 30 Rock, What About Bryan, Little Britain, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Grey's Anatomy, Trailer Park Boys, SCTV, How I Married Your Mother, Men In Trees, Medium, Prison Break, Match Game 76, CPO Sharkey, Daybreak and X-Play.
  • Books

John Grisham, Stephen King, Michael Crichton, J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Stephen R. Donaldson, Dan Brown, David Baldacci, Donald J. Sobol (Encyclopedia Brown!), the Danny Dunn series.
  • Heroes

I know this is cliche but it's honest: my father, my mother, my son and my daughter. Any David who faces their Goliath. Roberto Clemente.

About me:

.. How you doin'? Life is interesting and ever changing, and I'm enjoying the ride. Professionally, I aspire to be a comedy writer and musician. In my day job (11 years in media research) I'm a tech writer and project manager. I'm basically a geek that writes lots of technical documentation for both technical and non-technical folks. Interesting work, love the challenges, and it pays the bills. When I am inspired and feeling creative, I write rants in a blog (click here for my blog) - think Dennis Miller with a 10th-grade vocabulary. Perhaps you'll enjoy. Perhaps you'll suggest I keep my day job. I have two fabulous kids, a 16 year-old daughter who impresses me every day (she's warm and funny and well beyond her years) and a 23 year-old son who works harder than anyone I know, yet maintains a positivity and charm I couldn't approach even on my best day. I'm currently living in Ellicotty City, MD. I play my guitar nearly every day. When I'm feeling musically inspired, I write. When I'm feeling brave, I record - (Click Here for 3 of my Songs! ). I appreciate honesty in people and a true sense of humor. I freak over the illogical. I'm 43 and am very comfortable being 43. The two things I would change about myself are my male-pattern baldness and my height (I'm 5' 5 1/4" and yes that quarter inch counts!). The two things I can't change about myself are my male-pattern baldness and my height - it's genetics people, not Karma. Discovered Yoga last summer and it's changed my life (but I won't start preaching new age Zen positivity).

Who I'd like to meet:

Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, Amy Poehler, Leo Laporte, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, John Rzeznik, Corrine Bailey Ray, Eddie Izzard, Cal Ripken, Albert Einstein (after perfecting time travel), Barack Obama, Ellen DeGeneres, Pete Townshend, Carlos Mencia, Tom Cochrane, India.Arie and Adam West.

You need some more friends. Hit up my page and see if there is anybody you know. I don't want people to think you are a hermit.
