About me:
Laughter has a new home at Gotham Comedy Club's new flagship location, 208 W. 23rd Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues in Chelsea. The new 10,000 square foot venue provides New York with live performances from today€™s most elite comedians.
As the owner of Gotham Comedy Club, Chris Mazzilli has proven himself to be a leader in the industry, bringing comics such as Dave Chappelle, Lewis Black, and Colin Quinn, to his stage. Jerry Seinfeld chose Gotham Comedy Club as the backdrop to film his 2002 Miramax movie, Comedian.
Mazzilli's vision is to bring live comedy to the foreground of the entertainment industry and to provide a home comics will feel comfortable and proud to perform in.
In addition to featuring performances from comedy€™s biggest names and well-known headliners, the space serves as an avenue for those who are looking to be launched into the comedy world.
Located next door to the historic Chelsea Hotel, Gotham Comedy Club draws upon the charm and feel of the 1929 building it is housed in while capturing the spirit of an upscale theater environment. Inspired by nightclubs of the 1920s, Mazzilli used the time period€™s art deco designs as his cue when designing the new $2.5 million space. The interior walls are painted in a warm red tone, while the back wall of the stage will be the signature Gotham yellow. Patrons feel like they have stepped back in time when they enter the club, reminiscent of a grander time in live theater entertainment. The entryway walls will feature famed comedic photographer, Dan Dion€™s photographs of some of the comedy world€™s most recognizable faces.
In addition to serving up comedy, Gotham Comedy Club will feature a full dinner menu from Manhattan€™s brand-new barbeque joint, RUB - Righteous Urban Barbecue.
The theater seats 300 people for show performances, while the downstairs lounge, Vintage Lounge, holds 150 for cocktails. In addition to regularly scheduled performances private performances will be offered to event and/or corporate organizers.
