To begin, this is site for goths, punks, emos and other alternative subcultures, as well as their supporters. It is about defending ourselves against those who would threaten us based on lifestyle or appearance. Any type of "Well, what about hate or violence in (insert given culture) or against (insert given group of people)??" We'll be honest;
That's none of our concern. This is a human issue facing people of subcultures today.
We're goths and others of subcultures, and we're human. As soon as "regular society" starts paying attention to what happens to their fellow man all too often, then we'll concern ourselves with their problems. We worry about violence against goths. This is something that happens all the time but you never hear about it on the news. In the UK August of 2007, a young woman named Sophie Lancaster was beaten to death by a groups of youths for being goth. MURDERED for being a goth. Believe it or not, but you'd damned well better not ignore it. Within the blog you will find regularly posted resources that will help you be prepared for any situation, from self defense tips tailored to goths to ways to deal with unsympathetic and suspicious police officers. Consider this a survival primer for the gothic subculture. It is long overdue. Social consciousness is a necessary part of our mission, but is effective only when society is conscious of you as an equal person or group of people. As most of you know, this is not the case concerning the goth subculture.
A little about us; We are a married couple who have been part of the goth subculture for many years. Ankou is a veteran martial artist with over 20 years of training. Both of us have been persecuted for being goth. With the recent surge of violence against goths, we have decided that enough is enough. It is our firm belief that the gothic subculture can remain a peaceful, non threatening one while still being able to maintain their personal safety against the onslaught of those who believe that it's ok to assault, maim or kill someone for being different. Law enforcement is largely unsympathetic to our plight. Now is the time to act and not be afraid to do so.

The quarrel of the sparrows in the eaves, The full round moon and the star-laden sky, And the loud song of the ever-singing leaves, Had hid away earth's old and weary cry.
And then you came with those red mournful lips, And with you came the whole of the world's tears, And all the sorrows of her labouring ships, And all the burden of her myriad years.
And now the sparrows warring in the eaves, The curd-pale moon, the white stars in the sky, And the loud chaunting of the unquiet leaves Are shaken with earth's old and weary cry.

Build on your hope,. one day at a time, Though the road be steep and hard to climb. The hurts of the past - they should be dead. The fears of the future are all in your head. Just live in the present and refuse to mope Your life will sparkle for you're living in hope. When all about you is black with gloom, And all you feel is pending doom. When your bones are racked with grim despair - When every breath is a gasp for air. Keep on going, though you need to grope, For around the bend is a ray of hope.
A ray of hope is perhaps all that's left, As your will to live has been bereft. You've lost it all, it's just no use! You can end it all, you need no excuse. But throw away that piece of rope, And give yourself a chance of hope.
Just give yourself another day, Brushing aside what your thoughts may say. This is your life and you can make a new start, By ignoring the brain - just follow the heart. Taking baby steps in order to cope, And minute by minute you'll build on your hope.
As a pale phantom with a lamp Ascends some ruined haunted stair, So glides the moon along the damp Mysterious chambers of the air.
Now hidden in cloud, and now revealed, As if this phantom, full of pain, Were by the crumbling walls concealed, And at the windows seen again.
Until at last, serene and proud In all the splendour of her light, She walks the terraces of cloud, Supreme as Empress of the Night.
I look, but recognize no more Objects familiar to my view; The very pathway to my door Is an enchanted avenue.
All things are changed. One mass of shade, The elm-trees drop their curtains down; By palace, park, and colonnade I walk as in a foreign town.
“Whether we fall by ambition, blood, or lust, like diamonds we are cut with our own dust.”
“'Tis said that wrath is the last thing in a man to grow old”
