After many years of gringing away in the Punk/Hardcore band “Victims”, Andy Söderström (bass) and Macke Strandberg (guitar) decided to change direction. Its 2002 Micke Blomberg (Voice of a Generation, Daybreak) is just as excited to be the stick-wheeler in a group who’s influences are Queens Of The Stone Age debut record mixed with Kyuss, Maters Of Reality and Zeke.
Taking advantage of a particularly “wet” evening at the local bar, the trio are able to get Jesper Nyberg to sign a lifetime contract with the band. Galaxy Safari is starting to take shape. Instrumentaly the influences are clear but Jesper take the intitative to move the band in another direction at the same time; Seattle, Screaming Trees and the Stone Temple Pilots.
The founding members are quietly concerned. Where the hell is this going?
Even thought the former punks were trying to get their heads around this they never stepped on the breaks but rather stomped on the gas. The direction of the band becoming more solidified.
Like a new born baby, the creativity and euforia around the group soon becomes reality and the members “hit the wall” with the band taking a break for a year.
The break-up between Andy and “Victims” in 2006 is the spark that brings everyone together to dust off what they had started a year before.
Misfortune strikes again and Micke is forced to leave the band and operation ”recruit-a-fucking-nasty-beer-drinking-first-queens-of-the-stone-age-album-liking-drummer” is put into action.
Based soley on rumours filled with strong adjectives, Alexander Malmström is hand-picked to take over the vacant drum stool. Alexander is also bound by life time contract after a night at the pub but thanks to his 10 years of idiot-rock lifestyle and 250 live shows under his belt the band is back on track.
Material to an album is quickly out together and in February 2008 the band goes to the excellent Stefan Brändström(Henry Fiats Open Sore) and spends a week in the Dustaward studio. Together they create a fine mix of rare vintage whiskey, malt and meskalin with a pinch of harmony.
