They range from punk, to pop to emo, to screamo, anything that tickled our fancy at the time I guess...
Bands that we have perticularly took notice of and have really inspired us are bands like:
Bowling for Soup
Billy Talent
InMe
Lost prophets
My Chemical Romance
Mr Simon MacCorkindale
Sounds Like
We don't really sound like any inperticular. we just try make up and play catchy song in our own unique style. We are a mixture of loads of genres: Rock, Emo, Punk etc.
We are Gown Please, a young, devoted, energetic band from Ipswich! We have 3 band members; me, Kerri Butcher (16) on lead vocals and lead guitar, Todd Emanuel (17) on backing vocals and drums and Ross Garwood (16) on bass and backing vocals.
Gown Please started out as myself and Todd playing by ourselves in my bedroom together as a hobby, about 3 years ago. Me, with my first guitar, and Todd with an electric drum kit. We began to work on our first song, called “Spend It With You” and this is when we started writing more of our own songs, as we realised we had a talent for it. After deciding we needed a bassist, we invited my life long friend Ross along for a bit of a “jamming session” and found that he was the missing ingredient for a fantastic new band! Over time we have developed our own original sound which sits somewhere between the rock and pop genre! We are influenced by every type of music out there, but our favourite bands are Bowling For Soup, Billy Talent, Hawthorne Heights and Aiden, all bands who are extremely passionate about what they do.
After covering some songs and writing a few more of our own, we decided it was about time we shared our passion for music with the rest of the world. And what better way to do it than to organise a charity “Battle Of The Bands” at our school in aid of Unicef!? So we found some more bands to play, found somebody to host the evening, organised a raffle, publicised the event and what a success! That night we raised over £600 for charity, and an even better surprise… we won the competition! It was so much of a success that we did it all again this year, raising over £500.
I guess you were wondering where our slightly original name came from? Well if you have ever watched “Casualty” you will know of the character Harry Harper. We happen to think the actor who plays him (Simon MacCorkindale) is fantastic! After hearing Harry Harper speak the line “Gown Please” on Casualty we decided it would be an original and imaginative name for our band!
