Their live performance, that has been likened to Zero 7, Air, Aim, Quanitc Soul Orchestra and Groove Armada, consists of 14 musicians, and 2 vocalists, including acoustic and electric guitar, keyboards, samplers, decks, drums, bass guitar, string quartet - cello, 2 violins, 1 viola, brass trio - sax, trumpet, trombone, percussion featuring a gong & the big bad double bass. Any producers out there? You need to check out this remix competition, which could see your work released on Liverpool-based label Sick Trumpet, joining artists such as Osunlade, Crazy P, Phil Asher and Atjazz. The latest addition to the roster is Zed Bias, and his new ‘Experiments in Biasonics’ LP is ready to drop.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to remix ‘Boomerang’, which has already been receiving radio play from Gilles Peterson, The Unabombers and Kev Beadle. It is a bouncy house jam, the Basement Jaxx style rhythms and chattin’ being pushed along by the jumpin’ bassline – visit www.myspace.com/sicktrumpet to check it out.
True to Sick Trumpet’s music policy, anything goes for this remix. Whether you are a jazz demon, a house head, a dubstep don or a junglist, this competition is for you. Your remix will be judged by a panel including Domu, Phil Asher, Jenna G and Marcus Intalex, and the winning entry will be released on Sick Trumpet, so this is a real chance for you to shine.
