A LONG NOTE: (Hey, you're welcome to skip this ... but if you can spare a minute, please read it.)
Dear Friends,
Thanks for landing on my MySpace page. The page isn't as I would like it to be, I envisioned fixing it up with perhaps some color, and structure ... whistles, bells, the works .... but, I don't have the time. I'm not the fastest learner on the block, but I have learned one thing in a relatively short period, and that is ..... MySpace takes up a helluva lot of my time. I've been fortunate ... really blessed ... to have been offered friendships here. I'm really encouraged to know that so many great people here are genuinely concerned about our world. So many of YOU recognize, discuss and speak out against the deceptions and injustices that occur daily.
I've been finding that I'm taking waaaaay toooooo muuuuch time in replying to messages, comments and bulletins, and I'm simply not getting done what I should be getting done at my computer (trying to sell "stuff" on eBay). I love reading the great bulletins that you post, and it's great to know that everyone is so ACTIVE ... that's so important ... but it's next to impossible to read all the bulletins,. Many are so compelling that I usually want to reply or forward. I also would really like to reply to all messages. Of course, that generally leads to a reply from you ... and the next thing I know, a few hours have passed ... simply with correspondence. This is not a complaint, it's simply stating that I value all my MySpace friendships, and truly regret that I can't be as personal or personable as I'd like to be. I generally accept most "friend" requests, but I think I'm going to have to resign myself to simply clicking "Accept" without sending a message. I'll still be asking others if they'll add me to their list of friends, as I enjoy sharing information, views, perspectives .... and especially TRUTH. It's so very important.
I sincerely hope we don't see censorship here. I've read about and continue to read and hear about Rupert Murdoch's ownership of MySpace (since July, 2005), and I understand that nearly 300,000 profiles have been removed for "hate speech". I don't support "hate speech", but I would argue that freedom to use "hate speech" is guaranteed under the First Amendment. Furthermore, we don't really know how Murdoch's minions are differentiating "hate speech" from other speech or expression. Perhaps "hate speech" may include the expression of ideas that don't conform with Murdoch's agenda (???) ... or maybe criticism of Murdoch or his holdings might be considered "hate speech" (???). When "hate speech" is described as being, "in the eye of the beholder", then that doesn't hold up well to Constitutional scrutiny. It shouldn't get that touchy, except that when the guys who own the game begin to make the rules ... then if you wanna play, you may have to give something up. DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS!! If you feel your rights are being erroded, then you've got to fight for them. I urge you to keep a very close watch on what happens here. The owner of MySpace is the owner of FOX News .......... Enough said.
Anyway, to make a long story longer ... if you don't hear back from me, it's because I'm busy trying to do a little work to pay my bills. I greatly appreciate that you would consider me worthy to be your friend. I love that we are .... so far ... able to share truth, because that can only lead to better understanding between us all. We have (at least in America) been sold short by our "mainstream" media. The mainstream media has become less concerned with its obligations to tell the truth to the public, and more concerned with its obligations to its corporate ownership/sponsorship and its job as a mouthpiece for government. Well, the internet and networking sites such as MySpace give us some awesome opportunities. WE CAN BECOME THE MEDIA. Always speak truth to power and fight for justice. The sooner justice is achieved in our world, the sooner peace will follow.
Thanks!!
John
about me:
I'm an interesting and unique (yeah ... unique, just like everyone else ... ) 60 year old single dad. Because it means the most to me, I'll first state that I'm a great dad. My wonderful and very precocious 17 1/2 year old daughter has spent half her time with me and half with her mother, since she was an infant. My daughter is at the age now where she's quite content to spend very little time with either parent, but I'm adjusting to that. I never wanted to look back on my life to see that I missed an opportunity to be part of my daughter's life ... and that's worked out great.
I've got many talents and several skills, and varied and/or eclectic interests. I'm honest, compassionate, passionate, giving and loving. I'm politically "left" and a fighter for truth and justice. I've got a good (healthy) sense of humor, I'm a bit irreverent and I have always possessed bit of a wild streak.
I'm educated, creative, articulate (sometimes ..) and interested in my community, the world community, and in exchanging and sharing views, ideas and resources. I appreciate good communication ... or, at least, the attempt at good communication.
I help people ... always .... daily ... without fail. I help people even if it means (and it often does) that I've gotta put my "stuff" on the back burner. I'm compelled to do it, and it makes me feel good.
Enough of this .... more details upon request ...
