The Official Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy is located at 3515 Artesia Blvd., Torrance Ca, 90504
When Rorion Gracie and his brothers first began revealing the secrets of their family art of Jiu-Jitsu, they taught anywhere they could throw down a mat. Known as the "garage days" by those early students who fondly remember grappling in makeshift classrooms cobbled together in spare bedrooms and empty car garages, it was a period of growth and experimentation for Rorion and his family. During this intial phase, the Gracies established their curriculum and teaching methods, adapting them to best meet the needs of their students.
It Wasn't long, however, before the demand for Jiu-Jitsu instruction by Rorion mushroomed beyond his cottage-industry facilities. In order to accommodate the expanding list of applicants pleading for instruction, he began to design what was to be the first American Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy. So it was August of 1990, Rorion officially opened the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy at 1951 West Carson Street in Torrance California. The world of martial arts would never be the same again.
Today the Gracie Academy is more than 15,000+ square foot training center, featuring spacious, well designed instruction rooms, complete dressing facilities for men and women.
BUT GOOD THING BRIAN LET HER FINISH IT INSTEAD OF ESCAPING EVERY SINGLE SUBMISSION LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES....CAUSE THATS HOW FRIENDLY WE ARE AT THE GRACIE JIU-JITSU ACADEMY
Thanks for the add! Jiu Jitsu saved my life, i don't know where i would be without it now! Training in Tokyo with Rickson was amazing and being a part of Gracie training here at Axis in Tokyo is truly an honor! i hope to come down to cali sometime and get a few rolls in at the Gracie Academy!
Could you guys do like a video on how to sink the rear naked choke on a resisting person? One of the most symbolic submissions of BJJ yet I can't seem to sink it on a resisting opponent.
thankx for the add fellas,im doing the private lessons right now, im gonna try to get a session in with alex today in torrance, im also trying to get my daughter to go,she is 9 and a little scared but I think she will love it once she starts going, you guys rock! and once again thanks for the add
who said gracie jiu-jitsu doesn't work on multiple attackers. just the other night,i was ambushed by 300 "brazilian jiu-jitsu" guys. As they closed in to seal my doom, the leader asked me - "Do you have any last words?" Without hesitation I replied "What would Grand master Helio do?". In an instant, all 300 of em found one excuse after another as to why jumping me would not be such a great idea.
hey... i called the guy in overland park kansas and left a message but i didnt get a response... my sponsor told me he would pay for me to go train there but id much rather train in la where the actual gracie jui jitsu school is... is there anyway i can get some prices on classes up there?... maybe i can talk him into flying me out there once a month to train.. thanks.. i appreciate your help... heron.the last time i saw you a year ago, you said "is that how you always wrestle" cause we were going too strong. So now i take your advice and relaX IN THREAT.

Thanks for the add!!! I enjoy training in the Gracie system. Much respect to all of you, my instructors at Gracie Miami / Fort Lauderdale, and last but not least Grand Master Helio Gracie.
Had an amazing time at Gracie Academy! Thank you to everyone there for making it such a great trip and for teaching us the Proper Gracie Techniques. You definitely Keep It Real. Already planning next visit.
Hello Grandmaster Rorion.I'm stopping by to give credit where it is due!
Take note haters- For all you "brazilian jiu-jitsu" men out there-If you somehow get lucky during training and pull off a submission that works..You're not using "brazilian jiu-jitsu" dummy! You've just won using Gracie jiu-jitsu. You better recognize the difference or i'll patiently sit parked across the street from your house, wait for you to step off your porch and when you think its safe to look in my direction, thats when I'll take you down Ralek style and slap you silly til you scream "Rorion for president!"
One day Ima come and visit your academy, I find that jiu jitsu is one of the more balancing martial arts and am trying to start my martial arts career as soon as possible, hopefully Ill get to the point that you (the Gracie's) are now. Thanks for the inspiration, Peace.
