Tonia Grady is an Award winning producer with over ten years of live broadcast television experience as well as an abundance of film and video production knowledge. Tonia also has over 15 years of marketing, public relations and management experience. She has had the great fortune of learning the world of public relations and marketing from media giants like Terrie Williams (Terrie Williams Agency) and Von Alexander (The Alexander Agency). But it wasn’t until after moving to Atlanta in 1996 that Tonia started her career in broadcast journalism. She was asked to host a cable television show because the producer liked her flair. Tonia was no stranger to the ‘behind the scenes’ of the television and film industry – she’d done PR for countless TV shows and movies over the years. So, naturally she said yes to her first gig in front of the camera.
In 1997, Tonia created and produced a variety entertainment talk show called The Red Room which aired in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. The success of the show was phenomenal and continued to grow at a rapid rate. The show aired for four years undergoing a face-lift and a name change. The new show was titled, The Red Room Tonight with Tonia Grady (RRT). RRT was the first local television show to garner interviews with celebrities like Sean “Puffy” Combs, TLC, Kirk Franklin, Ludacris, Steve Harvey and Jamie Foxx. The show aired weekly in primetime on Comcast Cable (formerly Media One) with a reach of over 750,000 households.
In addition to enterprising her own show, Grady honed her production skills at top companies such as Fox Sports NET South, Media One, DreamWorks and CNN Financial News. As field producer/associate producer for CNNfn she worked on shows such as “Business Unusual”, “Your Money”, “World Biz Today”, “Entrepreneur’s Only”, and produced daily live shots of breaking news from the field. Ms. Grady worked her way up and over to the flagship network CNN Domestic. She worked on CNN’s Daily live news line-ups such as “CNN Live Today”, “Wolf Blitzer”, “Inside Politics” and “Live From”.
In addition to producing national and international daily newscasts for CNN Grady carved out a niche for herself by crafting original “off-the-cuff” work. Tonia was known as the ‘entertainment maven’ at CNN because she had the “All-in-One” factor. She had an inside track to the both the music and film industries and she could write, line produce, direct, segment produce, book guests and market the package as well. Soon all the networks (CNN/CNN Headline News/CNNI/CNNfn/CNN Airport) called on her to enterprise cultural and entertainment features segments for their shows.
Currently, Grady is heading up her own production company, Gradygirl Productions, Inc. Gradygirl is a full-service multimedia production company, specializing in film and high-quality digital video productions, independent and feature film production, documentaries, music videos, TV commercials, tailored news pieces, internet video, live events, sales & marketing and Electronic Press Kits (EPK’s). Gradygirl has served clients such as CNN Headline News, ABC Radio, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, Bolton-Curley Media, Miles Ahead Entertainment, DavenStar Media and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Grady’s expertise has been sought after to consult start up television shows and independent and corporate conferences and national media events. Dollar (World Changers Church International), Bishop Eddie Long (New Birth Missionary Church), Tom Joyner (Tom Joyner Morning Show) and Chet Brewster (Director of Kings of Comedy & all of Tyler Perry’s Madea stage plays) just to name a few.
