After four decades as “three together,” the creative partnership of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash is one of the most enduring and influential in contemporary music. This compilation of previously unreleased material takes an unprecedented look at the earliest days of their collaboration with 12 demos from 1968 to 1971—destined-to-be-classic songs that would later be featured on CSN’s studio albums and solo titles. In Stores June 2nd.
Rhino Presents Career-Spanning, Three-CD Boxed Set Featuring the Artist's Best, Along with Mixes, Alternate Versions and Songs that Have Never Been Released!
When it was first released in 1971, legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash's emotionally charged solo debut came on the heels of a temporary split with his CSN band-mates, David Crosby and Stephen Stills, and a permanent break with his then love, Joni Mitchell.
In song and through his photographic vision, Graham Nash has examined and illuminated the last four decades with his meaningful art and poetic spirit. And, through his pioneering work in the digital realm, he’s helped define the way we’ll see and experience things for decades to come. Nash Editions, founded in 1990 by Graham and Mac Holbert, was cited in 2005 by the Smithsonian Institution for its role in the invention of digital fine art printing, and is renowned as one of the world’s leading fine art photographic printmaking houses.
Graham’s music has its own global reach – with Crosby, Stills & Nash, CSNY, the Hollies and solo, it is some of the best known of the contemporary era. Currently, Nash is recording new material with CSN, and this summer will tour with the trio in celebration of their 40th anniversary. Over the years, timeless Nash-penned songs have included “Our House,” “Immigration Man,” “Cathedral,” “Wind On The Water” and “Teach Your Children.” His musical body of work is the subject of Rhino Entertainment’s new 2009 3-CD box Reflections, collecting 64 songs spanning forty years. Half of the landmark set is comprised of rare and previously unreleased mixes, alternate versions and unissued tracks. In 2008, Rhino also released a deluxe two-disc CD/DVD-A edition of Nash’s acclaimed 1971 solo debut album Songs For Beginners.
Hey Graham, Songs for Beginners still ranks up there as an all time favorite. Your writing and vocals have been a creative inspiration for me all my life. I can't wait for the seasons to slow down where i can write with the powerful simplicity of that album. Thanks!
