grandaddy was a band that maybe should not have been, but ended up being anyways. They made some good records, established a solid following with fans,critics,T.V.show hosts, hotel staff,bar tenders,and roadies,among many others. They also had a blast being grandaddy ,despite the hard work and years of uncertainty..... but for a bunch of humane reasons and a long drawn out stint at being "on the verge of greatness" they had to call it "quits". theres plenty of google info . on this matter so lets just move on........ The founder and songwriter and chief recordist of grandaddy is jason Lytle. He has a new album coming out. most of the info regarding this album will be available and updated regularly on jason lytle.com.. .. .. Dear Grandaddy fans n folks:
Would love to get some of your views and feedback for '2000 Man / A Grandaddy Music Video' that I filmed and edited in 2007. "He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot" resonated deeply with me then when I was trapped in a life that I realized I had not chosen. As a huge Grandaddy fan I knew I had to make the video that I kept seeing in my head every day on the way to work...
A quick note on the intro and ending: The only reason some of intro was edited was to satisfy the contest entry run time of 5 minutes (FOX 'On the Lot' 2007). I'm a HUGE Grandaddy fan and it killed me to have to touch the song in any way - albeit just a little - but had to explain that...
Here's one review from back in 2007:
"That was definitely beautiful. You captured the mood, you nailed exactly what you set out to nail: the feeling of.. quiet desperation as the system, and it's routine suck the life spark out of one. You nailed this. This is good art. I love it when visuals are built for the music, and not the other way around. Very amazing. "
