Opening with the psychedelic guitar-overload of ‘Coast Is Clear’ (reminiscent of Swervedriver at their most accessible), the album moves through the radio-friendly stomp of ‘Tripwires’ and ‘She’s A Dreamer’ into the lush and emotive title track. In places, glimpses of the band’s love of ‘60’s-flavoured pop shine through (‘Used To Be The Sensitive Type’), in others it’s a decidedly more post-punk influenced garage sound, while the whole album displays a devotion to the highest level of songwriting skills and production. Filled with hooky, jangling riffs and memorable melodies, this record is a tour de force of exceptionally strong songs and impassioned performances.
