Reyo, Finaal, Budden....The JERSEY COALITION!!
It has been said that the things we chase in life seem to always be running away. For Grand Finaal, this old time saying could not be any truer as a testament to his life at this point.
Most artists in todays music industry have reached where they are because of a troubled past involving crime, poverty, family problems, and psychological issues within themselves. Grand Finaal has not been burdened with these obstacles to the extreme, but because of his passion and determination he could very well be headed in the direction of those same obstacles if his dream is not attained.
Grand Finaal was fourteen when he began rapping, which was ignited by the overwhelming Wu-Tang movement, specifically Raekwons, Glaciers of Ice. I heard that album [Only Built for Cuban Linx] and it was all overI knew exactly what I wanted to do recalls Finaal. When Finaal said, it was all over he meant all in every sense of the word. Growing up in Orange, NJ and attending high school in Newark, NJ, the only occupations that were widely accepted were drug dealing, stealing cars, athletics, or rapping. In Finaals case, he could have picked the wrong career in rap because his life did not meet industry standards. However, Finaal was determined and after getting kicked out of Rutgers University he began to grind even harder as a rapper to prove that he belongs among the industry elite. During his short stint at Rutgers University, he met J. Alston, who also believed that Finaal had what it took to become one of the greatest rappers ever. J. Alston introduced Grand Finaal to Jerome Manuel, who like every body else, was sold on Finaals pure natural talent. A couple years later, Grand Finaal, J. Alston, and Jerome Manuel formed Xequtive Board Entertainment as three equal partners. Finaal had to empty his pockets, get a nine-to-five, and forgo the typical life of a single black male. Finaal has put his all into his career and his record label and if he gets nothing out of either, then hes left with nothing and would have to start all over again.
These types of issues are what pump the life blood into Grand Finaals music. If there is no music, then there is no life for Finaal, this idea keeps Finaal in the studio for every available minute of the day. To date Finaal has recorded hundreds of songs and freestyles, which include every sub-genre of hip-hop. His music jumps from conscious to street to commercial. For instance, on My Brothers Keeper, Finaal tells a spine tingling story of a nightmare where his brother is killed right in front of him, which happens to be one of his biggest fears. On Arrogant, Finaal boasts to be the untouchable and cocky artist that he transforms into when hes rapping. Grand Finaal wants every listener of his music to be figuratively sitting right next to him while he expresses his thoughts, opinions, and feelings about everything that goes on in the world, and with his distinct voice, people are easily drawn into hearing every word and interpreting the meaning of his lyrics.
Rising above the endless throngs of wannabes, Finaal and his partners have already done much of what the typical new artist does. There are currently three Grand Finaal Mix tapes in the streets and they have pushed 10,000 copies of each, which are all hosted by New Yorks Hot 97 DJ Cipha Sounds and each has a song with Def Jam Recording Artist, Joe Budden. Grand Finaal has also been seen by many in several opening act performances for the likes of Ludacris, Lil Scrappy, Mashonda, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Bobby Valentino, and Noreaga. Grand Finaal is not here to play games because playing games doesnt have life changing results, and if it was considered a game, then Grand Finaal is letting it all ride.
