We seek to discover and explore the various sociopolitical, economic, health, educational and environmental needs and challenges of our people while seeking to analyze appropriate, sustainable methods to alleviate burdens and barriers obstructing the progress towards improving our communities.

Kombit Nouvel Jenerasyon (KNJ), Creole for "New Generation of Togetherness", is a nonprofit organization based in the US dedicated towards the betterment of our Haitian people. Comprised of volunteers from around the world, we fuse together as the foremost grassroots ensemble of intellectuals, professionals, laypersons, students, and volunteers working hard in a "Kombit Mode" - an ancestral tradition of "communal achievement" - with simplicity, transparency, respect, and dignity.
Our six KOMBITS or areas of focus include:
*Literacy and Education
*Health and Nutrition
*Environment and Infrastructure
*Civil Rights and Policies
*Business and Entrepreneurship
*Social Mobility
We are committed to enhancing the lives of our Haitian brothers and sisters by collaborating with individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses that share these common goals and by working hand-in-hand with the Haitian communities we are serving to bring about improvements to our people's social, educational & economic wellbeing.
Meet our sister organization, KNJ-Haiti based in St-Marc, with whom we work closely in the design and implementation of our programs :
Our slogan is "Sevo anpil, chay pa lou!" which means "many minds lighten a load". We are counting on YOU, your expertise and ideas, and your generous in-kind services or financial support to help our Kombits become realities. Together we can help our beloved Haiti become the "Pearl of the Antilles" once again.
We are on course to launch our Literacy Kombit in the Artibonite Region in Summer 2008! Please visit our website www.grandkombit.org, send an email to info@grandkombit.org, or inquire here on myspace for more information on how you can help!
Who I'd like to meet: Brilliant minds that are dedicated to Mother Haiti.
How can you help?
*Join KNJ - your compassion, skills and expertise are needed now more than ever.
*Attend one of our weekly general interest meetings (every Wednesday via teleconference).
*Help spread the word about us to your grassroots/social/nonprofit networks.
