The players in the ensemble are six of the most talented tooters, plunkers, and bonkers in the U.S. of A. They hail from all over the country but all eventually made their course to the big apple for the rigorous musical training that only a modern metropolis can provide. Over many years of study the men have painstakingly studied all the aspects of their art form: practice (playing tuba tongue-trills to percussion press-rolls at home), repertoire (the works of the great long-hairs), composition (scribbling on a page), education (teaching someone a riff), instrument repair, and finally performance (playing aforementioned trills and rolls in public).
Here they are, in all their glory:
RUSSELL "FROGGIE" MOORE , trumpet; VINCENT "KID" NERO , soprano saxophone; MATTHEW "GRANDPA" MUSSELMAN, trombone; BRYAN "PROFESSOR" REEDER, piano; DANIEL "CHIEF" PECK , tuba; WILL "DOC" CLARK, drums
Influences
Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet, John Kirby, Kid Ory, Paul Whiteman, Bix Beiderbecke, Fletcher Henderson, King Oliver
Founded by veteran trombonist and sliphorn aficianado Matthew "Grandpa" Musselman in the year two-thousand and seven GRANDPA MUSSELMAN & HIS SYNCOPATORS is a sensational New York based traditional jazz repertory ensemble performing red hot numbers in all varieties of ragged time from classic to modern. The distinguished men in the group were classmates at the Manhattan School of Music -- Musselman pounced upon them (like a beast) and commenced them rehearsing Jelly Roll Morton arrangements (plundered from the Library of Congress). Whether performing wholesome outdoor concerts or scandalous burlesque shows the Syncopators are not to be missed!

Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
