Hello friends of Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra! Good news! Dakah has a show coming NEXT WEEK! Details follow:
Francisco Aguabella presents "Chango En Paris" A symphonic Afro-Cuban Jazz Funk Musical Featuring Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra Thursday December 4th, 2008 7:30pm Royce Hall UCLA campus
This is a very VERY special gig for our conductor and Dakah creator Geoff "Double G" Gallegos.
The music we will perform December 4th was originally recorded in 1980 under the name of "Arara" by musicians from Parliament Funkadelic and some Afro-Cuban masters. This was the very last session Eddie Hazel ever played before his passing. The recording itself was never released.
Dakah was in fact founded in 1997 during an attempt by Double G to perform and resurrect this music.
Now in 2008 a mature and fully formed Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra has been given the opportunity to collaborate with some of the original musicians who were on the 1980 recording sessions and premier this work for the first time to the public.
And on a personal note I just came from a rehearsal with the strings in the band and this shit is going to be OFF THE HOOK!!!!
Don't miss this show, it is not any music you have ever heard before, it is not Dakah's standard charts. and it is guaranteed to blow your mind...
Thank you for supporting Live Music in LA, Much love, Ariel Walden
