Dennis' musical influences: Dennis' style has been influenced by such greats as Grand Funk's Mel Schacher, REO Speedwagon's Gregg Philbin and Dartanyan Brown of Chase.
Jack's drum influences: Joe Smyth, Alex Van Halen, Mark Herndon, Steve Smith, Mickey Curry, Travis Barker and Cactus Moser. Groups include: Blink 182, Van Halen, Good Charlotte, Bryan Adams, Avril Lavigne, Alabama, Bowling for Soup and Green Day.
Together, GRC has been impacted by all styles of music to create a musical style all their own.
Sounds Like
GRC is a musical mutt ranging from Alternative to Classic Rock, even some Punk. On a given night, they might sound like anyone from Nirvana to Green Day to Tom Petty with even some Blues or Southern Rock thrown in. GRC likes to call it Midwest Rock.
Starting as a jam session in the fall of 2001, Brad Carr, Jack Vanderflught and Dennis McElroy quickly discovered something very special happened when they combined their abilities. The band was immediately invited to play local and regional venues, including coffee houses, colleges, universities, music festivals, and corporate events. The hard work paid off in September 2003, when GRC was chosen as a finalist in the national “Rocket To Fame” contest at the EarthLink Live! theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.
Today the band is actively writing and recording new material that has met with critical acclaim. Never content with the same music/same show, their new music is evidence of a new era of edgier and more up front lyrics and music.
