Graveslut arose from tragedy. Like the fiery phoenix of legend, from the ashes of death, springs new life. The Oxnard based metal act Black Hand disbanded after the cowardly and senseless murder of bassist and dear friend Sophear, leaving a hole in the hearts of the so cal metal scene and those who had the privilege of knowing him. Now, a new entity has arisen from the remnants of Black Hand. Under the banner of Graveslut we prepare to take up the flag of extreme music and begin the fight anew. We dedicate all our body of work, present and future, the memory of Sophear Riem. REST IN PEACE BROTHER…YOU WILL BE FOREVER MISSED.
Hailing from the shores of Port Hueneme, Ca GRAVESLUT was formed in mid 2007 by members of the now defuct bands BLACKHAND and En Obscurum . Since that time, GRAVESLUT has risen to dominance in the Southern California metal scene. Known for their incredibly energetic live performances, GRAVESLUT has received high praise from many well known bands in their genre including Oceano(Earache Records), Hester Prynne (Torque Records), And Hell Followed With (Statik Factory Records) and Oblige (Stillborn Records) to name a few. The band has played the southern California area relentlessly since their formation 2 years ago and recently released a 5 track EP titled “Fleshcraft” which has been described as “a breath of fresh air for the deathcore genre”.
GRAVESLUT’s music is a brutal cocktail of death metal, hardcore, and old school thrash.With lyricsbased on subjects ranging from worship of disease, human skin wearing murderers and nasty stabbing addictions to zombie holocausts and cannibalism, the band uses dual vocalist to creat inventive layering techniques that most bands can only pull off in the recording studio. As one local radio personality puts it” GRAVESLUT uses a constant barrage of tempo changes, and build ups to create a hurricane of deathcore punishment…” Fresh off the release of The Fleshcraft EP and with more new music on the way, GRAVESLUT is certainly a band to look out for in 2009.
