Well, general stuff... okay, here it goes... we are a new magazine born in the dark thoughts of a reclusive graduate student who was frustrated at the lack of quality literary horror magazines in the U.S.
So, with the frustrating thoughts screaming through his brain, the creator started a new venue, a creative outlet for artists and writers who are looking to publish some of their more questionable pieces in a magazine that celebrates dark and twisted tales, bridging the gap between genre writing and quality literature.
Music
Beethoven, Marlyn Manson, Korn, Ozzy Osbourne; Chopin, Violent Femmes, the Cure, Metallica; Slayer, Megadeth, Smashing Pumpkins, Portishead; Mazzy Starr, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Vampire Lestat; and any other artist who sings about the dark things that go bump in the night.
Movies
The Shining, Bram Stoker's Dracula, American Werewolf in London, Wolfen; Interview with a Vampire, Twilight, Near Dark, The Crow; Hammer Horror Films, Halloween, Goonies, Ghoulies; The Ring, Blair Witch Project, Witches of Eastwick, the Devil's Advocate; and many... many... many more.
Television
Forever Knight, Monsters, and anything else shown on the new Chiller Channel, as well as Oprah...
Books
Well, there are really too many to list, but we will list some of the authors that we enjoy: Neil Gaiman, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allen Poe, Anne Rice; Steve King, Alan Moore, Garth Ennis, Tom Robbins; and the list continues... (I am just running out of time and patience.)
Heroes
Authors who have made a difference in their writing... even if it's only to terrify our minds....

About me:
Graveyard Tales is a new magazine of horror and dark fantasy. We are going to be a yearly publication with a tentative release date of October 31, 2009.
Currently, we are searching for new and old artists and writers who would like to publish their work in our exciting new magazine.
Our next reading period will begin December 2009.
We accept digital submissions (for writers: either .rtf or .doc format; and for artists: .jpeg will be fine) at graveyardtales@hotmail.com: please include your name, address, email address, and upon acceptance, a short bio that also includes any work that has been previously published.
We are looking for tasteful, well-crafted stories (no more than 5,000 words) that captures the darkness in our hearts. The stories can cover a wide range of topics (the supernatural, occult, serial killers; lonely souls lost within a labyrinth, etc... just listen to some gothic music in a graveyard to find your mood). We do not want overly erotic stories... or tales that glorifies mutilation against children (adult mutilation is okay... as long as it's tasteful).
We will accept previously published stories and artwork as long as the pieces are not under contract with another publication.
For poetry, we are looking for the unusual (no limit on lines... just flow with the muse and send the polished piece to graveyardtales@hotmail.com).
Artists and photographers: we are looking for designs that spark the Dionysian thoughts within our souls.
If your artwork or writing is accepted, then all rights will revert back to the artist or author upon publication. We do, however, retain the right to republish accepted submissions in a future anthology.
At this time, we are unable to pay contributors; though, we will change this policy after publication of the first issue. However, selected contributors will receive a free issue.
If you have any questions, then click the mail link next to the bloody flower and send us a message, or you can visit our new page at www.graveyardtalesmagazine.com.
WE ARE ALSO SEEKING ADVERTISERS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, THEN PLEASE EMAIL THE EDITOR FOR RATE INFORMATION AT graveyardtales@hotmail.com
