GRAVITY BURN was formed from the ashes of several Atlanta hard rock bands and the desire to bring the edge back to female fronted hard rock. Although the members have different backgrounds, they all have a love for the same thing…HARD ROCK!
MAGDALENA came to the United States from Krakow, Poland in October of 2006 to fulfill her dream of fronting a hard rock band like no other. She began her singing career in Poland when she was just 16 years old as a member of the traditional Polish folk band “Krakowiacy” (Krakoviatsa); responsible for bringing the Polish culture to the countries of Europe and the people of the world. She attended the Krakow School of Music from 2000 to 2004, where she was a classically trained vocalist. Putting a classical career aside, Magdalena journeyed to America to pursue the dream of being a rock singer. With the support of her husband, Matt (a sergeant in the United States Army); Magdalena walks the difficult and lonely road of a female hard rock singer.
JOSH has spent the last 10 years searching for the right band members that share his same love for hard rock. He has spent several years building a reputation as one of the best drummers in Atlanta in bands such as Transmission and Undone, but it was not until he co-founded Gravity Burn that he received his dream endorsements from Sonor Drums and Silverfox Drumsticks. He found a musical soul-mate in Magdalena, in which they whole heartedly agree on the direction that female fronted hard rock bands should and that this one will go. Aside from drumming, he owns and operates Virtuo Sound Studio in Woodstock, GA. When not writing, performing, or recording in the studio, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife, Stephanie and his twins, Jonah and Sara.
SIMON always wanted to be in a hard rock band with a female lead singer. He had visions of adding an edge to that style of music that doesn’t exist in today’s industry; and with Gravity Burn, that vision is a reality. After playing in the Atlanta based rock band Driven, he took a hiatus from live music to study classical guitar. He received his degree in Music Business from Clayton University in 2005 and went on to intern with the Atlantis Music Conference for 2 years. In 2009 he jumped back into the Atlanta rock scene in a brief collaboration with the Elliot Marsh of City Sleeps before becoming the new guitarist for Gravity Burn. Simon is now poised to attack the Rock and Roll scene again.
ROBERT began his music career in college playing bass in several bands. After receiving his Audio Engineering degree from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, he moved to Atlanta where he started working at Tree Sound Studios with such artists as DJ Hurricane (Beastie Boys), Outkast and Sevendust. He won a Grammy for recording Outkast’s multi-platinum album “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” including the mega hit “Hey Ya”. Some of the local bands he’s worked with include Favorite, Perpetual Groove, and Fervor. In 2003 he left Tree to be a fully independent producer/engineer and re-emerged on the scene as an active musician. Through a chance meeting with the band’s management, he auditioned and became the final part to the hard rock engine that is Gravity Burn.
With less than 1 year and only 1 show under their belt, Gravity Burn was signed to Renaissance Records with worldwide distribution through Koch Entertainment. Their debut album “Weight and Sea” received rave reviews and garnered the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Neil Citron. Neil has worked on such projects as “That Thing You Do”, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, and with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Gravity Burn’s ethereal sound is a blend of edgy guitar and bass riffs, deep drum beats, and the pure, powerful voice of Magdalena. The band is currently working on their sophomore album and looking forward to touring nationally upon its release.
