Thanks to years of experience and literally hundreds of opportunities to lead and perform music, I am confident that I can fulfill your vocal needs, whether classical or contemporary.
If you desire a more classical vocalist, I am very experienced with that. In high school, I received 4 years of vocal training, and was selected to be a member of the South Carolina All-State Choir for 3 straight years (all of the eligible years). I have also sung numerous classical solos in church worship services. While attending Clemson University, I was a member of 2 choir ensembles, the Men’s Glee and the CU Singers, which emphasized more traditional and classical music. I have also sung classical selections at dozens of weddings, funerals, and civic functions.
If you are seeking style that is more contemporary, I am very well-versed in that as well. In high school, I learned to play the piano, and wrote numerous pop songs over the next several years. I assembled a band, toured the southeast, and had the opportunity to record an album. In college, I was selected to be a member of the nationally esteemed a cappella singing group, TIGEROAR. The musical focus of TIGEROAR is contemporary pop music, and I was voted to sing a several solos during my time in the group. I also was voted to leadership positions within TIGEROAR, including President. I have won local talent contests, including the 2008 Greer Idol, which was a local high-profile contest.
Currently, I am serving at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC, where I am the Contemporary Worship Director. In this role, my musical focus is more contemporary in style, but I also have the occasional chance to do classical/traditional music.
Although I love music, my main focus and enjoyment is spending time with my wife, Heather, and our dog, Boaz.
For booking , feel free to email me at graydontomlinson@gmail.com. For weddings, I can provide a list of songs that I have sung before, if you are searching for ideas, and I am highly capable of accompanying myself on piano for the contemporary selections.
