Locke was a Baha'i, and the first American Indian woman to serve on the National Spiritual Assembly, the administrative governing body for Baha'is of the United States. She was of Lakota and Chippewa heritage and played a leading role in the founding of 17 tribally run colleges in the United States. She also was an influential advocate for the passage of federal laws increasing Indian tribes' autonomy over their children's education. Born Patricia Ann McGillis on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho, Locke won a MacArthur Foundation fellowship for her lifelong work to preserve indigenous North American languages. She taught and lectured for more than 40 years and worked to protect sacred Indian sites. Locke's Indian name was Tawacin Waste Win, which her daughter said means "she has good consciousness-compassionate woman." The men and women of the military, educators,law enforcement,fire department and the thousands of organ donors all over the world to name some of the many heroes I have come to know.

hear the bells
i hear the bells ringing,,
kinda like sleight bells singing;
i wonder if they're calling a meeting,
or are they just apart of the season greetings,
everyone i meet is so full of Mr happy,
bending over backward to be the first ,
to share the Christmas cheer,
look over there at Mr Grinch building a snow man,
he's having a grand old time playing with the children,
and Mr Ebeneezer Scrooge sure looks funny,
handling out presents while
dressed as Santa ,
i hear the bells ringing,the snow flakes falling,
looks like fairy dust falling from the sky,
seems like the whole world is celebrating,
the dance of life,
sharing the joy that comes with Christmas time,
look a there the Muslims and Christians,
are agreeing ,while the Catholics and predestines,
are shaking hands,must be some kind of magic in them dare bells,
i hear ringing,all races greed and colors,
are singing with one voice,
something bout peace and joy all over the world,
listen can't you hear the bells ringing,

that dwells in paradise better known as the tree of life ,
my God will not forsake
he's with you every step you take,
people never
give up no never give up on love
deceit is something we all must not get use to,
the system lye to us all the time,
telling you what to wear eat and buy,
doing anything to keep control of our minds,
i pray you hear these word i say, my god will not betray,
join me in sharing the real meaning of christmas, this christmas,
go in love shelter all that's in the giving, this christmas,
give of yourself till there's nothing left, this christmas,
truth and affection show the world that you care this christmas,
see that child in need of shoes,see that homeless man in need of rest,

as i walk through my neighborhood,
i am in aw at all the flickering ,
twinkling lights, of interments in the yard
ribbons on gift wrapped doors,
i hear music as i pass each house ,
jingles
bells,Santa Claus is coming to town,
and please come home for Christmas,
and prince blaring ,
last night i spent another lonely Christmas,
Rudolf the red nose rain deer,
as i button up my over coat,,
as the wind starts to choke,
i sing merry Christmas,
to all my wonderful neighbors,
i smell Turkey roast as well as ham,
i see children running with candy canes in hand,
i stop pause to stare at a manger scene ,

we are living in a time of threat of human extinction,
a world who's clutches are of immorality ,crime violence,
a world filled with suffering both physical and mental ,
many are frustrated ,
i can't feel it no where near it,
i can't see it ,christmas spirit,
with all this killing robbing stealing,
off to war somebody child the president is sending,
christmas lights don't shine so bright this year,
lost of job cost of living on the rise ,
so many are living in fear ,
