He is a regular member of the electroacoustic improvising trio Taxonomy (Elio Martusciello and Roberto Fega).

Taxonomy:
H2O is a composition interpreting the theme of audiovisual crossover, thanks to a stratified execution of progressive passages: from video shooting, passing to a rewrite in digital graphics, finally focusing the interactive feedback with the shadows form of sound produced by the musicians. The visual flow develops and integrates with the music, producing a decidedly new, electro-digital, highly hibryd. H2O was born from a meeteng between a group of designers, programmers and videomakers with the music group Taxonomy. Citrullo International s.r.l.: Luciano Barcaroli, Carlo Hintermann, Gerardo Panichini and Daniele Villa (documentaries, audiovisual events, cinema, television, multimedia) Studio Brutus: (animation, game design, web design, video broadcast, graphic design) Taxonomy: Elio Martusciello, Roberto Fega, Graziano Lella (electroacustic composition and improvisation music)

An acousmatic work from the musical theatre opera ANIMAli,
gestures and voices from Julio Cortazar's "Rayuela"
Here’s a simple taxonomical list, without any intellectualism nor complex strategies to
define anything. We explore the most varied instrumental techniques, technologies, and formal
structures, according to our experiences both as listeners and musicians (and all this is perhaps
more evident here than in our first record). That’s all. We believe that the art world in all its
complexity is not different from that, even when it apparently looks for motives or goals and
presents itself with complex conceptual schemes. In the end, it’s just the same simple, eternal game.
We just wonder if this game is everything or nothing at all.
Taxonomy:
A Global Taxonomical Machine [2005, Ambiances Magnetiques]
Taxonomy (Martusciello, Lella, Fega) plays compositions and improvises, exploring the
syncretism between different musical codes. Taxonomy always allows the whole to be divided up into
its constituent parts. A line of shadow between osmosis and isomorphism. Martusciello is a member of
the improvisation group Ossatura. In the same spirit as Parasites (AM 096), this group chooses an
electro-noise approach. The finesse of the mix, worthy of electroacoustic music, highlights the rich
details, a dynamic palette ranging from clashing noise to silent tracks. The album, A Global
Taxonomical Machine, offers a gripping blend of concrete noise, abstract electronic effects and
acoustic sections. Martusciello work in the improv group Ossatura, a major act on the international
avant-garde music circuit. Places which do not appear on any map. Morphological analogies that lie
between thought and micro-organisms. Strange correlations between the letters of forgotten alphabets
and globalised (de-localised) languages. For us in the past all books, alphabets, signs, chemistry
(both organic and inorganic), geography, religion, politics and journeys were only scenery of an
experience, a dream or aspiration. Then we met by the same bookshelf of that same library. We are not
particularly cultured and so we confined ourselves to the task of taxonomy, the most arbitrary of
taxonomies. We thought about compiling signs according to our desires. The resulting volume does not
tell any story, or even reveal any truth or discovery. This is an illegible text, devoid of
significance but with meaning. If, in some way, the world itself can be reflected in the myriad of
small fragments that compose it, then this is the fragment that we have unearthed.
arg:
arg [2002, Sirr.ecords]
Classer l'enfance / La vie qui dort (pour Georges Perec) (12:44)
Policiclo (5:43)
Pomeriggio a Rovaniemi (a Robert Bresson) (12:30)
Pupille gustative (15:36)
arg is the solo project of Graziano Lella,
where he carries out electronic and concrete music compositions
in which he interacts with heterogeneous materials
and very different sound sources (field recordings, samples,
electronic generated sounds and real instrumentation).
The pieces pay hommage to Robert Bresson or George Perec
and reveal a distinctive aproach where silence plays a key role.
Born in Rome, graduate in astrophysics, self-taught bassist, Graziano Lella studies sax at
the SMPT (Scuola di Musica Popolare di Testaccio, Rome).
Always interested in avant-gardes in all artistic forms and expressive languages, he organizes,
starting from 1992, many concerts and cultural events with the Cervello a Sonagli association.
After a first experience as bassist in a punk band, from 1997 he plays bass guitar in the
art-rock group Dura Figura and takes part, as a saxophonist, in many performances which
connected music and visual arts with the open collective Ask the Dust. Moreover he takes part
in some workshops with important innovative musicians like Tim Hodgkinson, Ken Hyder, Amy Denio and
others.
At the same time he dedicates himself to improvisation practice both with a consolidated
formation, the radical improvised music Zic quartet, and with many musicians of experimental
area. Fascinated by the timbre-dynamics possibilities of electric bass, with the Zic quartet
he developes his own vocabulary through a prepared instrument. Subsequently he introduces in his work
the use of self-made amplified objects supported by live electroacoustic treatments and
pre-elaborated recorded materials.
Actually he works in a solo project called arg. With arg he carries out
electroacoustic and concrete/acousmatic music compositions with a personal compositional approach
which “appropriates” heterogeneous materials and put them in a dialectical relationship with the
possibilities offered by new technologies.
In october 2002 Sirr.ecords label (Portugal) releases his first solo cd: arg.
In 2003 he founds the electronic improvised music trio Taxonomy with Elio Martusciello
e Roberto Fega. The first group's cd, A global taxonomical machine, is released by
Ambiances Magnétiques (Canada) in 2005.
He is a founding member of IATO and iXem musicians' collectives.
In 2004 he begin the collaboration with the filmakers Carlo Hintermann and Luciano Barcaroli (of
Citrullo Int.).
Since 2005 he collaborates with the theatre company Psicopompo Teatro.
Starting from 2006 he plays in an audiovisual collective together with Taxonomy and the
videoartists Studio Brutus and Citrullo International. Their work H2O has been

Il 6-7-8 aprile 2009, al RIALTO SANT'AMBROGIO (Roma, Via di S. Ambrogio 4, presso Largo Argentina) terrò il seminario "IL SUONO E L'IMMAGINE. MUSICA, VOCE, RUMORE E SILENZIO NEL FILM", articolato in tre incontri intensivi (ognuno di 3 ore):
LUN 6 aprile ore 11:00-14:00
MAR 7 aprile ore 15:00-18:00
MER 8 aprile ore 11:00-14:00
