The critically-acclaimed Canadian celtic-rock band Great Big Sea emerged from Newfoundland in 1993 with their self-titled debut. Many of their albums – including Up, Sea of No Cares, Turn, Play, Something Beautiful and The Hard and the Easy – are certified gold or platinum in Canada and have cumulatively sold over one million copies there. Most recently, The Hard and the Easy was nominated for a 2006 Juno award (Canada’s equivalent to a Grammy), following multiple past Juno nominations for the band.
Great Big Sea is: Alan Doyle (vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bouzouki), Sean McCann (vocals, acoustic guitar, bodran, shakers, tin whistle), and Bob Hallett (vocals, button accordion, bouzouki, fiddle, tin whistle, tenor banjo).
