Some people who have never attended a Sci-Fi convention have the idea that they are all about people standing in line to get autographs of actors. That's it. The Convention experience is much richer and diverse than you may have been led to believe. To get the best experience it is important to first consider your interests and then match them to what conventions are available.
Creation Conventions have actors, and sometimes, behind the scene's people, who have appeared in genre television and films and they're ready to talk about their experiences and share insight about their lives. They'll answer your questions, sign autographs and have their photos taken with you. Some admission tickets include the costs of autographs and photo sessions and parties, other ticket options are of an a la carte fashion. Gold and preferred tickets go on sale first and then general admission tickets will be sold. Single day tickets are the last to become available. Tickets are almost always available at the door day of event.
Depending on your budget and interest, it's always recommended to purchase your Gold Tickets as soon as they become available as they sell out quickly.
Often conventions have previews of new shows and films, and usually an extensive dealer’s room where you can buy anything from t-shirts, photographs, hats, toys and action figures to full scale replicas and costumes...and more. Most Creation Conventions have giveaways (on a first come basis). There will be auctions and contests as well. Prizes are given out at these contests.
At some cons we have video contests.
Most conventions run on time and the program schedule will be handed to you when you enter. The convention schedules are also posted on the Creation website a few days before the convention.
Creation Conventions generally start at around 11:00 AM and end at 6:00-7:00 PM. Sometimes there are evening parties which last until midnight or so. Expect Creation Conventions to be as advertised and run on time. Rarely does a guest cancel, and if one does, Creation will do their best to handle the situation to make every attendee happy.
What you can expect at a convention? A full day of on-stage programming, dealer’s room, and interest group tables. At the bigger conventions such as Grand Slam-The Sci-Fi Summit, and Star Trek- Vegas there will also be an autograph room where celebrities will sign autographs for a fee. Conventions have guests ranging from actors, producers, directors, musicians, authors, cartoonists, illustrators, scientists etc. You may also find workshops for writing, acting, art, costuming, make-up and special effects at a few conventions.
The greatest thing about conventions is being with like minded people who share the exact same interests as you. It's an amazing feeling to be a part of this group. A bit warm and fuzzy.
Sci-Fi and Horror Fans are the nicest and friendliest people, so please consider joining us at a convention coming to a city near you soon! You'll never forget the experience and you'll be hooked to attend more conventions. We have attendees who have been coming to Creation Conventions for many, many years!
