Greedy Bees

... Halfway Punk, halfway Ska with occasional shots of Rock, Reggae, Swing and Hardcore the nine-piece Skapunk-machine keeps rollin’ on for almost a decade now.

Greedy Bees from south-western Germany started in early 2001 to quickly end up with their unique sound marked by blasting horns, cracking guitars and straight-forward drums. Only four months after the first rehearsals the band played their first local show and from this point steadily increased frequency and geographical scope of their live performances over the years.

Since a growing audience demanded more often a recording to listen to the band took up the work on their first self-produced Demo in 2002. Finally six songs were released on the EP called “mission: top secret” in 2003 and the 100 initial copies were rapidly sold out. Spurred by the positive reactions Greedy Bees hit the studio in August of the same year in order to record their first full-length.

With ten new songs and a more and more intense touring calendar Greedy Bees quickly found a renowned partner to cooperate with: Swiss record label [808 Records] (a subdivision of LEECH RECORDS) signed the guys right away and published the band’s debut album entitled “a lifetime for the disappointment” in September 2004.

During the next 20 months Greedy Bees played nearly 50 shows and toured loads of kilometres throughout Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom. Besides touring stress and personal careers of each member brand-new material was written and rehearsed. In August 2006 preparations were completed and three weeks of recording at the “SU2-Studios” began. The outcome was the band’s second full –length record.

The album called “makeshift wings to the stars” came out in April 2007 again on Swiss label [808 Records]. The 14 songs were far more diversified compared to the previous album but still carried the energy and intensity of their own style while the overall sound quality had improved significantly. As a consequence the record received predominantly positive reactions by press and fans and gave the band no time to breathe. Starting with a ten days UK-tour in April the upcoming year and a half comprised again more than 40 shows around different European countries.

In 2009 Greedy Bees cut back touring efforts to a minimum because some band members needed to concentrate more and more on their individual duties outside the band. So the scarce time together was primarily spent on writing new songs for the next output. But the situation culminated in singer and founding member Martin leaving the group at the end of the year in order to be able to focus all resources on his job-opportunities.

After a few months of searching Greedy Bees hit the mark and found a brilliant new singer and an additional guitar-player. With Ric on vocals and Lukas on guitar they hit the stage again for a couple of shows after only 3 months of rehearsing in May 2010. An overwhelming reaction of friends and audience was more than a verification that all the past years of hard work need to be continued!
