Bred from a desire to play loud, energetic music in front of as many people possible, the members of DoOkiE emerged in the winter of 2004, out of the hills of central New England. And to date, they have rocked the socks off of everyone they’ve played in front of, from the Northern tip of Maine to the sandy shores of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and everywhere in between, even going international playing in Monterrey, Mexico.
Playing in various regional acts, the band (Louie Joe – lead vocals, guitar, Steve "Finster" – bass, vocals, Tré Frank – drums, and Mark Hole – guitar, vocals) brings many years of combined live performing experience to the table. This experience becomes immediately apparent to any concert goer from the moment the first note is struck with each member confidently taking command of their place on the stage. The four members seem exceptionally comfortable in their performances and effortlessly interact with the audience as well as each other, all the while sounding so close to the original, it’s uncanny.
“I've heard a lot of Green Day cover bands in my 13 years of being a hardcore Green Day fan and owner of the best f@*ing Green Day web site out there, but I have to say, you guys are the best! You sound almost exactly like them! Kudos!” – Courtney, Owner / Founder of GreenDayAuthority.com (fansite)
“The Green Day tribute band, Dookie, is especially good -- particularly its rhythm section. A four-piece from Springfield, Mass., the band plays loud, fast and tight, keeping the pop-punk melodies intact and injecting the songs with just the right combination of energy and attitude. Singer Louie Scalzo has Billie Joe Armstrong's facial tics, spread-leg stance and has adopted his penchant for blurting profanities. He also sings, when called for, with a perfectly fake British accent, a la Armstrong, who is from California.
Faux doing faux: a wildly brilliant Fakefest moment.
Scalzo seems perfectly snotty onstage, but away from it he's thoughtful, serious and modest. The whole band is, really. Clearly, they don't take themselves seriously. "We take the music seriously," says Scalzo. 'But we don't have to take ourselves seriously, because we're not Green Day.’ “ Josh Freedom duLac – Washingtonpost.com - “Anyone Hear An Echo” - June 25, 2007
DoOkiE can trace their roots back to a specific incident in the mid-90’s. At that time, during a stint performing in a cover band whose repertoire included a number of Green Day songs, amongst others, Louie was approached after a show. “You sound just like Billie Joe, you should start a Green Day Tribute.” Well, a handful of years and a couple of bands later, the notion came back alive. Lou mentioned the idea to Frank and Mark, and John jumped on board.
“We started by making a list of Green Day radio hits that we could think of off the top of our heads. In a matter of about a minute, we had a list of 17-18 songs. That pretty much secured the deal.” As for the name, well that was a no-brainer, as Louie had it in mind since that apparently prophetic night. Who can’t identify Green Day with their break through album that launched them into a household name? And that’s when Dookie became DoOkiE.
From there, the group researched and rehearsed relentlessly, honing their sound, and increasing their catalog to nearly 50 tracks, that they can pull off on a whim. A quick shopping spree completed the transformation, and the boys took it to the masses.
Since stepping on the stage for the first time as “the Ultimate Green Day Show”, DoOkiE has enjoyed a high level of success, playing for crowds as large as 15,000 strong, and taking charge of the stages at some of Eastern America’s more prestigious venues, including:

It was a sweltering hot day in the middle of July. The top was down on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina. Two unsuspecting friends from high school would have their lives changed as unexpectedly as a blowout at 70 miles an hour. They were making their way out to Boston to check out Green Day-The Ultimate Dookie Tribute Show. They were playing at the TD Banknorth Garden that night. Boy, were they in for a surprise! In a surprise show that everyone knew about, Dookie themselves would be playing a low key but wild pre-party right across the street!!! They couldn’t believe their fortune! They discussed plans on how they could sneak backstage and get Dookie’s autographs. They were even giggling out loud. They were gonna do it! Yessir, They were gonna go see DOOKIE!! "The name's Joe, Louie Joe." He said as he swirled his martini. The light was dim and he couldn't quite make out the features of the lady behind the curtain. He could only tell that she had blonde hair and big, fake....fingernails. He had arranged this meeting through various contacts as an attempt to get information on the whereabouts of her ex-boyfriend-the one they called 'the toad'. She had also made it very clear that she did not want her identity known. "Well, Mr. Louie Joe," she purred, "what is that you think I know that can help you? You know I have no idea on HIS whereabouts" Agent 006 knew she knew his exact whereabouts but had been in the game long enough not to let it show. The Toad had managed to stay at least one step ahead of both the law and his adversaries. He was starting to get cocky and Louie Joe knew this. He glanced around to see who else was glancing around, keeping tabs on them. "Come now, Darling, there's no need to play coy. There'll be plenty of time to play later. Perhaps you'd rather talk to the gentleman at the bar with the gray hat and 9 millimetre pistol on his ankle. He's one of The Gonz's men. Or the fellow who's been staring at the juke box for the last 10 minutes..." He heard her give a nervous cough to clear her throat. "Surely you don't think they'll let you leave, knowing that we're talking right now, do you" "I thought we were alone..." she was quietly shaking, "What should we do?" "Ahh...well, now. What we need is to disappear for a bit and I know just the place, though it IS rather ironic..." 006 almost chuckled to himself. "What do you mean?" "Well, there is this place in New Haven, Ct that happens to be called 'TOAD'S PLACE' and there is this marvelous band playing there Friday, April 10th called 'DOOKIE' BE THERE!!

So it's eleven days after Valentine's Day and Santa Claus is trying come up with some new ways to get Mrs. Claus "in the mood".
He knows that telling her that there's only ten months until Christmas just won't do it. In fact, that might make her withold her delicious cookies until St. Patty's Day!
So what's a fat old man in a sweaty red velvet suit surrounded by jealous reindeer supposed to do? He figured he's gonna have to stump up and take her out on a nice date and get her away from the old north pole.
Maybe a comedy show, maybe some dinner, maybe some cocktails, maybe a live show with the area's best Green Day Tribute show, DoOkie! Yeah, that soulds like a plan! Mrs Claus would be in ecstacy....well if not now, then certainly later.....*wink-wink*
So Santa scoured the papers to find out where DoOkie would be playing this weekend and was overjoyed with what he found!
He would follow the advice of the late, great George Carlin.......
(Don't shoot me-it's been one of those days....)
He would kiss her where it smells - he would take her to New Jersey!
Don't miss DoOkie Friday, February 27th at Jay-Dee’s in Carstadt, New Jersey
You might get to sit on Santa's lap 10 months early!!!
I must say...I love the bulletins you guys post...they're a way better than normals ads bands post online! Kudos for that! Now if I lived over on the eastern side of the US I would definitely come see you, but since I don't...it will have to wait! keep doing what you do! Ariana:)
We would like to extend a special invitation to one and all to celebrate St. Valentine's Eve with a romantic evening......
In place of a candle-lit dinner with tender meats and sleepy wine, we'd like to substitute a great light show with vats of draft beer and shots!
Tonight is not the night for lacy lingere and sweet perfumes, but Doc Martins and quality anti-perspirant.
Replace the soothing baritone of Barry White with the raucus sounds of DOOKIE, The Ultimate Green Day Tribute Show....
And you have an evening that won't be soon forgotten!!! You can look forward to getting in the mood together as you try to remember where you hid the pink, fuzzy handcuffs so the children won't find them!
That's right-and the only place to bring your valentine this Valentine's Eve is at TOAD'S PLACE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13th NEW HAVEN, CT
LADIES GET IN FOR FREE......as long as they bring along a gentleman to buy their ticket!!!
It could be the modern day fairy tale! Instead of kissing a frog to turn him into a prince....You can kiss four toads and call them DOOKIE!!!!!!!!
