I’ve been checking out his bandcamp and it reminds me of pieces of Neutral Milk Hotel’s Hypnotic Sounds, but then just these soft and sweeping vocals, with traces of Kurt Vile. His album is called Odd Tymes and it’s pretty fucking fantiastic. It takes a sombre note at times, with his own brand of freak-folk and ambient noise. Makes me want to watch natural disasters unravel outside my window. - Friends with Both Arms////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////// / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Like Simon Finn, Alexander "Skip" Spence, and Dear Syd himself, Green Gerry doesn’t need more than a guitar, some drowsy vocal leans, and his own warped sense of the world to make everything around you — rocks, trees, computer chairs, you name it — start vibrating with slanted and enchanted truth. - Visitation Rites / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Green Gerry is a reminder of this sound, using the worlds’ sounds at his disposal to create music full of life with the theme of lazy summers and slow-moving rivers, inspired by the southern way of living. - Salad Fork / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / His music is like a dark and colored vision – a dream, a soundscape. I crawl towards the door: Georgia Red Clay. I am here, now, in the middle of a huge change. I advance, I dream, and I love. There is nothing more, just children in melodious chorus, running through infinite space and this invisible mouth that embraces me. - delicious scopitone// / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Gerry Green probably should spend his time eating greasy burgers and watch the chiquitas beaches of the west coast with binoculars, hiding behind the curtains of silk. At least that's how I imagine a kind of deranged genius (just like Dr. Frankenstein). His creature to him, Odd Tymes, is also dark but much nicer than the doctor, they would almost want to sit around a fire with it, smoking weed and magic sleep under the stars - HellHole Entrance / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / I promise you, by the axe of Thor, thatOdd Tymes, this most honestly gorgeous, intensely atmospheric, odd and timely out-folk album, is indeed that sooty savior you’ve been seeking. And, of course, just like the cost to sink low in that open lake – the lake lined with sentinel trees, each slung to the next with hammocks and lit up alright with lanterns – was yours, Green Gerry in his most generous, throaty way and understanding, humbly of course, of the sheer essentiality of Odd Tymes, something created very much with forces beyond his own, has it propped up on his Bandcamp page using the pay-what-you-want model. It’s worth much more than $0, of that I assure you. So bloody, drowningly good. - Forest Gospel -

The word lunatic is borrowed from the Latin "lunacus", in turns stemming from "luna" (moon), which denotes the traditional link made in folklore between madness and the phases of the moon.
