I was inspired to create greenPRIDE when I made one choice to live green. In October 2006, I decided I was done with being an unconscious polluter. I resolved to change the impact I was making on the planet. Within 2 weeks, I sold my gasoline powered ’98 Ford Escort and bought an ’84 MBZ 300 diesel. My first stop was to get a full tank of biodiesel at Biofuels Oasis in Berkeley, California.
Since then, I moved to San Francisco and my roommates and I began indoor composting, painted our apartment with non-VOC paint and decorated our single paned windows with thermal curtains. We changed lightbulbs, bought local organic food and celebrated how cool our choices were!
I believe in grassroots efforts. Start small and it can grow big! Our friends love our worms and can’t believe we have almost no garbage because we compost, recycle and buy in bulk. We reuse what we have and we think about what we buy. A wonderful consciousness sailed into our lives when all three of us had the same desire: to change how we live and lower our impact on the Earth. It was so easy!
This is why I started greenPRIDE. To share ideas, encourage positive change and inspire the desire to live a more balanced life with yourself, your family, your community and your planet. Be a part of this consciousness flow and spirit of the Green Movement. Open yourself up and celebrate!
I'd like to meet people who are interested in spreading the word about the Green Movement and who are taking active steps in their daily lives to be "green". Together we can make awesome changes grassroots style. Then of course, there are some celebrities, too: Van Jones, co-founder of Ella Baker Center, Julia Butterfly Hill, founder of Circle of Life, Sakyong Mipham, Mrs. Meyers, Leonard Peltier, Wangari Maathai, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Dalai Lama, Deva Premal, Krishna Das, Amy Goodman, Pemba Sherpa, Bono, David Suzuki, Bonnie Raitt, Laird Hamilton, Kelly Slater, Cindy Sheehan, Yvon Chouinard-owner of Patagonia just to name a few so far.

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've always imagined. . .if one advances continuously in the direction of his dreams & endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours!" -Henry David Thoreau"
I do not no how close to Tahoe you are but... at the summit, the very, very top of Hwy 88 past Kirkwood is a little parking area and a small State Park building. From there it is about a 3 mile hike to the Wildflowers, which should start up in about a month. There is still a lot of snow up there. The first two miles of the hike is nice, just clean sierra forest, but there are no flowers to speak of, just trees. Just about the time you are tired, want to sit down and think someone gave you a bum steer on the directions you come around a corner and the whole of the Sierra opens up to you. There are millions upon millions of every kind of imaginable and not imaginable wildflower growing. And they continue all the way to a high alpine lake called Winnemucca lake... very beautiful... very worth every drop of sweat needed... G
Thanks for adding me, and thanks very much for the inspiration you offer here.

*SPLASH*! *BACKFLIPS* WHIIIIIIIIISTLE SQUEEEEEAK! Hi there! Welcome. Thankyou for choosing to become my friend! I am so glad! We wild dolphins need all the friends we can get, as we face so many dangers in our day to day lives, like tuna fishing vessels, recreational vessels, shipping, pollution, and even, I am sad to say, humans who think we are good to eat or want us for bait! Please also add the Wild Dolphin Foundation. Visit their page and mine and keep up to date with all that's going on and learn all about how you can help protect our environment and save mine and other species from extinction.
You can adopt me or any of my friends and that will assist our human carers to take better care of us. We will have lots of fun together as we both learn from each other and that's what we dolphins love more than anything FUN!! Just like you. Squuuuueeeeeeeeeeeek! Click click click.
*SPLASH* Are you soaked? Good! You have just been blessed with dolphinous love and happiness! Whiiiiiiiiiistle!
