If your German's good........ ............ .."What great shit - Nothin' To Lose guitarist Mick Priestley is back with a new band and has returned to take the world by storm. 'Mick Priestley's Green River Project' features singer Andy Law and Adrian Erlandsson (ex Cradle Of Filth/The Haunted). Nothin' To Lose are well known in the sleaze-rock-n-roll scene, but this project is far away from the party-rock genre - firstly because Mick shows us what a son of a gun he has inside him. That boy throws solos at us like a young Yngwie Malmsteen and like the Swedish magician he orientates himself in the classical music sector. On track "Summer - Presto" the young Englishman plays guitar like a maniac and proves that not only can he write great party songs, but is also a musical genius... "Summer-Presto" is a purely instrumental song - the other two of them come with wicked vocals from Andy Law. From a musical point of view the whole thing is bordering on symphonic metal, and with Law's dirty singing it turns into a highly interesting mixture. "Dig Your Grave" is an unbelievably wicked song that really kicks your arse and offers a great musical performance. Wicked melodies, dirty vocals, an extreme guitar wizard and symphonic keyboards - yeah that's right - and the song is really out of this world. ....Unfortunately I'm only holding a 3-track demo in my hands, so 'Nowhere To Run' completes the fun. Of course, on this track as well Priestley throws a full board of metal at our ears that's so wickedly played I'm starting to fear for all bands from this corner, because The Green River Project really shows them how it's done. These guys will have no problem at all landing a record deal - the music and songs are just too good to be ignored. I was expecting sleaze rock, but this is unbelievably good and makes power metal fun again." .... Hailing from the gutters of Camden Town, The Green River Project were formed in early 2009 and have looked unstoppable ever since... The band comprises of Andy Law (Headrush) on vocals, Mick Priestley (Nothin’ To Lose) on guitar, Muggsy (Nothin’ To Lose) on bass and Alex Martin (Social Head Removal) on drums. The band recorded their first EP – The ‘Dig Your Grave’ EP - in December 08, which features a guest performance from Cradle Of Filth/At The Gates/The Haunted drumming legend Adrian Erlandsson, and played their first gig at London’s Scala, opening club UNHOLY to a crowd of over 700 people. Alison B of Bubblegum Slut fanzine described the scene – “Giving their first performance to a rapidly filling main room as the witching hour approaches, there’s certainly no starting at the shallow end for The Green River Project, but then patrons of the London rock scene will not know Priestley as a man lacking in self-confidence. In this case his own hype is to be believed. There’s no questioning his formidable skills on guitar and he’s done well to find a worthy vocal foil. Andy Law boasts a set of chords that could put a fair fight in a duel with Rob Halford, and has no problems inciting a frenzy on the dancefloor - some feat when you consider the entire set is new to everyone except the men onstage.” In the last few months alone, the band have appeared in the following – Terrorizer Magazine (Terrorizer also interviewed Mick for their website) * Metal Hammer Magazine (‘Dig Your Grave’ also featured on the cover-mounted ‘Razor’ CD) * Total Guitar Magazine * SugarBuzz Magazine (USA) * Bubblegum Slut Fanzine * KomodoRock webzine (who also ran an interview) * Nihilista Magazine (who also interviewed Mick) * Devolution Magazine (issue out 22nd May also has a full page featuring Mick/The Green River Project, and will be followed in the issue after that by a two-page spread) * The Camden and Islington Gazettes * Have appeared several times on Total Rock Radio * Were the most played song (Dig Your Grave) on High Octane Radio in Texas * Mick was interviewed twice for The Rich Willey Show/BlogTalk Radio (Texas – Mick has also been invited to guest-host the show) * Fat Wrok Magazine * GuitarChina.Com * Were the cover story for ‘The Anarchaic Times’ fanzine in Michigan, USA * Trashpit Magazine (twice - “The buzz around The Green River Project is that they’re way ahead of everyone else out there”) * PureRawk.co.uk webzine (who also interviewed the band) * Organ Magazine * Lords Of Metal webzine (Netherlands) * MetalKast Radio (Minnesota, USA - who are also interviewing Mick this week for a special half-hour broadcast) * Are a featured band on UltimateMetal.Com (Austin, Texas - being launched to much anticipation this week) … as well as numerous other online zines/ radio stations. The band are currently in the process of recording debut album “From Hell To Here” as well as booking dates up and down the country, and setting their sights on the US and Europe.
